Hey guys I have narrowed down my tire selection to these two tires. I currently have the Toyo AT2 and they have been a great tire! I have 55k miles on them now. I have also seen a lot of people be pretty happy with the Falkens on here. They are a nice looking tire as well. I’m curious which tire y’all would pick? There is a significant difference in price between the two as well. One other thing is there is differences in weight.

I’ve ran 3 sets of Toyo AT2s for a combined mileage of over 145k miles. I’m still on my third set. Never had a single issue. I’ll be going with the AT3’s next only because they don’t make the AT2s anymore haha.

I’m leaning heavily towards the Toyo myself just because of the great experience I have had.

I hate when it comes down to buying tires as there’s really no turning back once you start driving on them haha. These Toyos are the only tire I’ve purchased more than once.

I’ve been very happy with my Wildpeaks. I’ve had them for a little over 20k miles, with a mix of highway, city and off road, and they are all wearing great. I honestly don’t pay attention to my fuel mileage so I can’t say how the extra weight has affected anything, but I also jumped to 34s so it’d be tough to tell the difference between the effects of the size vs weight anyway. I was looking at the Toyo ATII, Cooper AT3 XLT, and Falken AT3W. I ended up finding the Falkens at $210 a piece, so that sold me.

I’m running the Toyos now. Had the Falkens prior.
Falkens:1) wore well, good in snow.
    2) didn’t work great in rain for me, my set never could balance correctly . Always had a shimmy shake.

Toyo’s 1) good in rain, snow, my set easily balanced .
    2) wear a little faster with my driving style.

I wanted AT3s, but the 295/70s we’re all sold out. They definitely have great reviews across the board.

I just purchased the Wildpeaks 275/70r18. The AT3s were more money and then Discount matched the WallyWorld price on the Falkens of $230 per tire making it $95 per tire cheaper. Only have 200 miles on them but I am happy with them.

Edit - I believe Falkens have better snow rating as well but you may not care in AZ

I haven’t had balance issues with my Falkens, but I do get flat spotting when the truck sits for more that a day. But that usually evens out after a couple miles of driving. I have pretty limited experience in rain and snow, but didn’t really have problems the few times a year I drive in the rain here.

Wanted to add, while I have yet to drive in snow with the Toyo AT3s on my Tundra, I had plenty of experience last year during the winter snowstorm in Oregon with the Toyo AT3s on my wife's Subaru and they were phenomenal. I had absolutely no issues with them and they were a night and day difference quieter than the KO2s I had to remove after 1k miles.

I can’t believe how loud my buddies Wildpeaks are on his Tacoma and they only have 10,000 on them. I run the AT3 and they have been great.

depends on the size you want. Some are not available but out of the 2 I would pick the Toyo AT/3.
I ended up with KO2s for my current set because none of those 2 manufacturers were making a 35/12.5/R18 E load.
Also note Falken is pretty backed up on tires.

I wanted AT3’s, but they were not available when I bought. So I put on Wildpeak’s. 9k in and they are quiet and wearing well in mixed driving. I went with LT275/70’s. Balanced fine, prone to flat spots, but goes away quick. I run them at 40psi front and 43psi rear, except to tow, then the rears get 50. There are so many good tires now, these two are among them.

Wildpeaks on my Jeep and old Tacoma were great. Quiet on the street and wore quite well. Waiting for the tires to wear on my new Tundra and then back to Wildpeaks!!!!!!

I also did tons of research and finally bought Falken wildpeak at3w. Ride is smooth as hell now. I had Nitto trail grappler MT before and it got dry rot cracks at 22k miles.

I have had both .. I have the Falken's now. They are a great tire but I've had trouble balancing them and they have cupped some. I've been diligent about having them rotated and have had the truck aligned a few times. I've got about 45k on them on and they are noticeably louder. I have the 34". I am actually getting ready to order the Toyo's ... not because I hate the Falken's, but just want something different.

I'm thinking of moving on from KO2s and these are the top two replacements. I do a lot of winter driving during ski season, so snow/ice performance is more important than anything else.

Anyone with any significant snow experience with these two? My KO2s have served me well.

I would say significant, but I am in southern Ohio and we see a lot of ice and can get quite a bit of snow. My Falken's were pretty good in the snow and on the ice. I always felt confident driving on them. As for the Toyo's, I can't speak to the new AT III's

Or Japan dependent upon the specs.

They both are great tires but Falken has recently moved their AT3W production to China so that is a hard pass from me.

Toyo is the way to go.

Interesting. Do you have a source for that? If that's true, it's a hard pass from me. Fuck China.

Source for some Toyo specs made in Japan is TireRack.

TireRack still shows Thailand as production for the Falkens.

But this Tire discussion has a few people that have just purchased the Falkens and disappointed to find they were made in China.

The Toyo AT3 is significantly better in the snow than the previous Toyo ATII and any BFG I’ve owned. IME. I haven’t been on much ice with them yet- I switch to a set of studded Duratracs for the ‘real’ winter months- but I’d expect a noticeable performance improvement on ice as well.

My buddy has the Falkens, and is happy with them. But I’ll still replace my current set of AT3s with the exact same, when these are worn out. Made in the USA. Great balance of off-road performance, on road manners and looks.

Majority of stock comes from our Thailand and USA plant to this day. China is used when we need additional supply and doesn't account for major stock. With the high tariffs for Chinese made products, we won't be using the China plant for much stock. You may also come across Japanese built ones.

Just want to clarify on sources of production.

    Thanks for the info.

Makes it tough when buying online as I’d be pissed if Chinese manufactured tires showed up. So it’s easier to buy from folks who we know don’t source from China.

Hopefully you all can find a way to completely cut China out as one of your production locations.
