If Yota a was able to get the Hi Lux over here with the turbo diesel legally emission wise..........it would be the end of the Taco. Way better truck. So far the rest of the world gets the Hi Lux. We get taco leftovers.....

Hell......even ISIS used Hi Lux's.....until we blasted them to pieces...heh...heh (the Hi Lux's) The Hi Lux would really disappoint Ford if they ever were sold here. Bye Ranger sales...

Too early to tell with Covid and all. The local McNaughton's Ford sells them as soon as they get them. I'm seeing plenty of new Rangers here in Denver Metro. The Taco is a bit stale it seems..hardly any Tundras at Stevenson's Toyota here but several Tacos to be had....

If I could get a new overseas spec diesel Hilux (like that Mako) I wouldn't be driving a Tundra.

    2100 lb payload
    7700 lb towing capacity
    2.8L turbo diesel
    Lockers
    Old Man Emu suspension

In my opinion, it's the epitome of function in a modern mid-size truck.

It's funny but I don't think of the Gladiator as a "truck". To me it's a Jeep with a bed and I fully respect it for what it is. It is by far the most capable off road stock vehicle with a bed available in North America. But to me it's not a Jeep first and truck second.

Yep, I agree with you on that. I still remember the early Jeep Gladiator trucks. Darn good. I pass a lifted one when I go up to my friends property here. No rust. Has a snow plow up front.

Just go on YouTube and watch the old Top Gear video of destroying the Toyota Hilux. It’s the most amazing video on that truck ever made.

I remember seeing these new on the dealer's lot in Downey, CA. I wasn't too crazy about the fender mounted signal lights. If I would have bought one, they would been the first thing to go. Otherwise it was a really neat truck.
Vancouver Toyota seems to have a 65 in their showroom.

I'm trying to remember that Downey lot. They had some kuul Jeeps tricked out. Famous dealer. Both my grandparents lived in South Gate. Actually the Jeep dealer I'm thinking about was in Fullerton. I need to rack my brain unless you remember it first...late 60''s to 70's...

Not really. When Ford discontinued the Ranger and Chevy the S-10, Toyota was the only small/midsize truck available. The only people buying Rangers are Ford loyalist or first time truck buyers. Nobody that I know of is getting rid of their Tacoma for a Ranger. I would like to talk to the person who does and why they did it. Ford's biggest (recent) mistake was discontinuing the Ranger. It was extremely popular with the offroad crowd and cheaper than the Tacoma, which made it affordable for the teenage crowd.

Here in L.A. you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Tacoma. The new Ranger on the other hand I'd see maybe 2 a week.

Maybe the buyers are new or old diehard Ranger owners. I had a 2001 Ranger 4X4 with that great Cologne V6. German sourced motor. Tight V6 actually. I see a lot of the new Chevy Colorado's too. All 4X4's sell quite well here with the Rocky Mountains in view...
Used Jeeps and FJ prices are crazy high....like our 14K ft "hills"...ha!

There was also VW dealer next to the Toyota dealer, Al Tatti VW. They were across the street from the Stonewood Shopping Center on Firestone Blvd. My parents bought a new Bug from them in '68. My dad recalled a lot of German curse words owning it. :censored:
