Toyota Hilux

I just did a double take on this small white diesel that turns out to be a Hilux. Anyone else seen them around or have one? I’m curious to hear about the engine.

 

Check this dealer out, they always have some cool older toyotas, have seen many Hilux come thru them. They give lots of good info on the mechanicals of whatever they have/have sold.

That site is cool. I knew that had old school diesels so I was surprised with this new truck on the road.

 

Unfortunately not available in the USA.

I see them around on occasion, usually on Mexican plates. Funfact: Mexico gets both the USDM Tacoma and the world market Hilux. IIRC, the only country that gets both.
Until they are 25 years old, they are illegal to import/plate in the USA.

Man that is so crazy Cuase that’s why I did a double take on this truck. It must have been from Mexico. We usually have chihuahua plated vehicles running around here.

I just did a family vacation to the Marquesas Islands, the farthest islands from any continental land mass. All goods including vehicles and livestock are transported by cargo ship on a three week interval. Each of the inhabited islands had mainly Hilux. Of course, being a Toyota truck fan and knowing how rare they are here, I took notice and snapped a couple pics. However, it was not until later, when we had returned to Tahiti, that I realized I should have snapped pics of them all and created a ‘spotted’ thread on here to rival Charlie’s.

My family keeps teasing me, that I have this one vacation regret….

 

I live pretty close to Mexico. I see all sorts of Toyotas that we can't get in the US.

 

I saw a story about the US military ordering 556 HiLuxes with armor back in 2016. These look pretty slick!
