My 2001 v-8 tundra needs new shocks on all four corners @ 85K miles. I can get toyota oem shocks / struts and reuse the coils, mounting plates, etc or new Napa ez-struts with new coils and associated hardware for about the same price. Any advice on which is a better way to go. Thanks for any advice and recommendations. Chunk.

My mechanic once told me that Toyota shocks weren't the best. I'd be a bit leery of EZ struts too, especially since you don't have struts. You've got coil overs, unless I'm mistaken. I'd look for some Bilsteins.

If you look in the mirror and say "tundras have struts" 3 times, @jberry813 will appear and smack you in the back of the head. True story, bro.

I think your whole truck is toast. You should sell your 85k mile 1st gen... I'm a nice guy and all that, I might even fly to the other coast to take it off your hands.

"Tundras have struts" "tundras have struts" "tundras have...... coilover" got scared. Can't do it man!:sorry:

Toytec makes a great product. I'm looking at the 2.5 for the front as we speak. I'm running toytec boss and toytec lift shackles in the rear. Best mod I have done so far!

Just semantics, struts or coil overs. We all know what we're talking about, Napa calls them ez-struts. A distinction without a difference i say. Just wanted some factual opinions on reusing the coils and mounting hardware. I'll just do a Google search. Cheers.

For OEM ride and better performance, Bilsteins are hard to beat.

Hi, I have a 2004 with bilstein 5100's on all 4 corners and alcan springs on the rear. I have always used Bilstein's once the OEM shocks wore out. They have good warranty as well. I purchased new OEM coils and used the second notch on the bilstein on the fronts for leveling and the ride is still pretty smooth with decent travel and rebound off road. I did buy new spring mounts for the front coils which helped with squeaking, the rubber on the old ones was pretty worn. My truck has 199k on it.

Is that your shotgun in the shadow or just happy to see your truck?

hahaha, my wife would be very impressed if the latter were true :) The old golden is 15 this year and this was very likely his last hunt :(. He was a hunting machine in his day. He was tutoring the young black lab in the pic this day and they did good.

There are some Shenanigans in here, but all in good fun. Any post keeps your thread up top, and guys will answer if they know.

I don't have any experience with either so I'm not much of a help. With that said from what I have heard I will probably go with Bilsteins after my OEM's go.

I haven't seen him around here for a while. He's probably busy using his newly issued ban-hammer over at Tacoma World.
