I tried to order new backing plates for my 2004 Tundra from toyotapartsdirect.ca .

The plates cost $32.00 each, but when checking out, they asked me to add $999999.00 to the order since shipping and handling to the US has increased!!

Does anyone know of a supplier in the US that has good pricing on rear backing plates?

John. Try doing a search at your closest Stealership (one the participates in the Toyota Part Programme).

You can save on shipping by free local pick up yourself.

I have shopped for parts all over, and pretty much everything is cheaper in the US vs Canada.
Being in Canada, I have ordered from those guys, and shipping was still pricey- $50 for two ball joints, 8 bolts and a window/belt moulding- and it took over a month to get, like 6 weeks I think.

Like PHM said, just check your local dealership, or find an online supplier in the US.
Cross border shipping is always ridiculous.

    Thanks for the replies.
I have ordered the parts from the local stealership at 3X the cost from TPD.ca ($98.00) ea.

Good news is shipping is only $16.75! Who Hoo

Stuff's gotta go thru Customs and you're not a priority.
    I know this as fact.

    I love money-saving stories.
    Now, waiting is.

Yeah, but mine didn’t go through customs, from Ontario to B.C., Canada Post just sucks :)
I live on a small island, someone told me it took 9 days for them to get a letter from the other side of the island...

We like to barter ‘round here, you’d be amazed what a dozen eggs or a bunch of kale can get you.
Smoke signals are a good idea, it is a small island, you can just yell across parts of it.

Nice. Sometimes, after I eat a bean salad, they can hear me fart across the lagoon.

You should try Kale Krisps. They are Air Fried and lightly salted with Salt from the Sea. Vitamin K and Electrolytes. A win win.

I'm going to attempt to be funny here without getting banned for life. We all know when you go to the bank they have those tubes that suck your $$$ to the teller inside. Why not use that same concept on possible unused pipelines that cross into Canada from USA? Screw Customs. Big frigging pipes. A bumper can fit easy...........thinking outside of the box here. The possibilities are endless. :burp:
(I don't advocate breaking the law by the way)

Just make sure no one is inside the tube when that heavy steel bumper is being forced by air pressure.

FYI>>>It's actually suction or air pressure depending on which direction.

So if a country sucks a bumper in, everything is okay, but if they use air pressure to shoot the bumper through the pipe it becomes a projectile weapon and act of war. Got it.

I was thinking more about RedGreen episodes with lots of duct tape to plug up potential pipe leaks....
