Hey everyone, this is my first post here and I’m excited to join you all.

I live in Alberta, Canada, and it’s starting to get very cold, so I have been doing some research on block heaters for the 5.7 and found out there have been extensive recalls on them due to failures causing fires and destroying vehicles..

I did just buy one from a dealer and was told the one I got is not involved in the recall, and I’ll be good. I was given one in a box with a part number not involved in the recall, BUT, it’s tapped overtop the original sticker that is the recalled part number. I get they don’t want to waste boxes or anything but the heater looks identical to the original and I definitely don’t want my truck in flames.

I’ll add some supporting photos in my post. Do you think I’m overthinking it, or should I be good to go? Apologies if this has been asked before. Cheers. image.jpg 81DE20C9-FE45-4A69-AFFF-81BAB4E432A1.jpg

I don't have an answer for you, but coincidentally...I live in the Seattle, WA area and just picked up a 2016 CrewMax last week that was imported from Alberta. I wound up calling Toyota Canade for a different reason, and while we were talking, she told me that I had a block heater under recall, but since I'm in the US she couldn't help me with it. She said that she could help me get it done at a dealer in Canada, but not in the US. Haven't quite decided what to do about it yet...frankly, I'll probably never need to use it, so I reckon I could just ignore it and never plug it in. At the same time, I hate knowing that there's a potentially defective part on the truck. I may bring it up to my dealer the next time I take it in for service and see if they'll do anything about it.
