Toytec BOSS coilover set or 6112 Bilstein or Falcon?

What set up would be better and why? Who has the Falcon set up and what do you think about them?

Not knowing at all what your intended use is, here are my thoughts. I haven't had either one personally, but I'd go Toytec BOSS for these reasons:
    1. customer service, I haven't even bought anything from them, and they've answered several questions both on the forum and on the phone
    2. the BOSS are adjustable, as in, you turn a threaded collar to set the height, which means you should be able to adjust them while they're on the truck and fine tune the height. 6112s use a clip to adjust height, which means taking them off the truck, and they require the use of shims to reduce the Tundra lean, which again means you're unbolting stuff.
    3. availability, seems 6112s are on back order a lot, as they currently are from Toytec and Boss4x4s
    4. based on what I've read on here, quality is about the same, although obviously the 6112s hold more oil
    5. the BOSS are pre-assembled. It's possible to find pre-assembled 6112s, but those are the ones that seem to always be out of stock. The ones without the top hats can be had more easily, but then you have the hassle of assembling them, and removing the top hat from your take-offs
    6. As others have said on the forum, you'll hear about guys going from Bilstein to Toytec, but you never hear about the reverse
    7. Color! Red isn't exactly my favorite, but the black coils of the Bilsteins disappear under the truck. The Toytecs are more flashy.

6112s. Buy the best, and set and forget.

The no squeaking, high quality, and overall ride on the 6112s is better than my Icon's, which were themselves better than Boss. I don't even know what Falcon is, and I would stick to Bilstien.

I went through this same decision path myself. I called Toytec and talked to them, and emailed at length...and among my concerns was durability. I live in IL, where the shocks will be exposed to salt, snow, ice, etc.

Toytec told me that I should NOT get the boss system; that it would not hold up as well and would require more frequent maintenance and rebuilding. I was pretty set on the boss, and surprised when they talked me out of it. I talked to Coachbuilder as well, and he also recommended the 6112. That’s the way I went—just waiting to install when I have free time.

I was leaning towards the 6112s and 5160 but wanted to see what you all thought about it because I know that bilstein is great product .....does the ride quality actually change over the 5100 for those who have had both?

Just curious....who at ToyTec talked you out of the Boss setup??? ToyTec sells many different setups. ToyTec would no doubt have recommend several alternatives..So once again...who at ToyTec did you communicate with whether directly or thru emails....????

Don't forget about the Old Man Emu nitro or the BP-51 system.

The nitro you choose the coil that suits your need, then have them pre assembled or assemble them yourself, you get 2.5 inches of lift with the Nitro.

The BP-51 is a coil over adjustable for height and the shock is adjustable both on compression and expansion so you can tune the shock to the type of driving you are doing at the time.

then there is Dobinson.... Elka… Icon King .....the last 3 are available thru ToyTec as well... Hope this helps to muddy the waters, going thru the same process myself LOL..

And don't forget about add a leafs or shackles or new leaf packs for the rear as well... my head hurts at the moment...LOL

You can really get in the weeds when making a suspension decision. I went with the boss, I wish I would’ve waited for the boss Aluma series 2.5 which would have been a much better ride.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but Bilstein 6112 has 650 lb springs which will help with the ride quality since they’re softer than the boss 700 lb coil springs

Kool. The Elka's are a bit pricey but are supposed to be pretty resistant to salt and other harmful crap they use on roads in the winter. You definitely don't want to spend serious $ on a setup and not be able to be somewhat resistant with the elements.

I had 5100s for about 2 months before I got a bug up my ass and wanted 5160s. The 5100s rode great. But the 5160s rode better even for daily driving. Noticeably more compliant over the same bumps. Going over bigger bumps at speed, the rear end felt much more planted with the 5160s.

I have no experience with the others mentioned but after 2 years of commuting, hunting season off-roading and family trips on the highway with 6112's I have no regrets.

I guess I'll be the odd guy out here.

After a lot of research here and elsewhere, I ended up going with the Falcons.

We don't really do any rock crawling or blasting thru the desert like some of these hardcore guys on here. We do like to travel dirt roads/trails at a fair clip though. We're also picking up a 22' boat next week that we'll end up pulling long distances.

From what I've found, these seem to be a pretty good, middle of the road performance/price option. There are lots of good YouTube videos that cover these shocks and I think I'd watched pretty much all of them prior to making my decision.

Things I like are, company reputation in the Jeep circles, made in USA, 3 year warranty. Everything is machined, manufactured, assembled, and tested at their facility in UT. Attention to detail is outstanding, it's like Tundra jewelry.

Just put the rears on last weekend and will do the fronts in a few weeks. So far the rears are a HUGE improvement over the TRD Billies. I'll do a full review in the Falcon thread once I get them on and get some miles on them.

I can't argue with anything said above about Bilsteins. I had bilsteins on my 1st gen and on my Bimmer and they are top notch. On my 3rd gen Tundy, I have the Toytec Boss and I am very happy. I went with the Toytec because of the adjustability, (and the prefab; no spring compressing antics needed), and fine tuning adjustability. Tundra lean is a real thing, at least on my truck, so fine tuning is essential.

For shackles, I have the toytec adjustable and I have mine set at the low 1' setting and it is perfect for me. I have the piece of mind that I can add a half of an inch if necessary in the future.
