I heard the new Tundras now allow for 8 TPMS sensors to be connected whereas my 2011 only allowed 4.

Does anyone know whether the 2022+ spares now come with TPMS? I have a 2023 Limited. thanks! -Aaron

Probably not. If there’s a 5th it should show on screen like on the Gx460.

I only see 4 sensors on the truck screen and on the app as well. I can run extra sensors on my trailer TPMS system so I can add my spares (truck and trailer) to that screen when travelling with the TST screen running. At least I have a work around for the spare. If I put the spare on the truck in place of one of the "in use" wheels then I will get bugged by the truck's TPMS warning system.

With a sensor in the spare, it picks up all 5.

Yep, this accurate. I had a blow out flat and had to run the spare for a 100 miles and it threw warnings the whole time

this is moving this thread a little, but I cannot seem to find the screen that shows the pressures. I did have it on one time, but can never find it now. My Capstone has the full digital screen. I go to the Settings then go down to the TPS, but can never see the screen. I do see the screen to reset and change PSI to kPs. I do this with truck running but in Park. The owners manual tells so little of how to get to this screen.
    Any help or suggestions appreciated.
    thanks

I would have been very surprised if it didn't monitor the spare tire TPMS. My '13 monitors the spare even though it isn't shown directly on the head unit (Pioneer Avic7200NEX interfacing via idatalinkMaestro). I just have to toggle through a menu item and it displays the spare tire info. I can't speak to whether or not they allow for 8 saved TMPS ID's, but that would be nice.

I don't know it actually "saves" eight, five or a dozen IDs; instead it just seeks out the TPM frequency at each wheel (including spare) and then registers it for that particular location. System still requires a TPM search and reset (with some driving) with seasonal wheel changes.

I wish my 2019 did that. I have a full sized matching spare with TPMS, but have to "relearn" when I rotate that wheel in.

On the left hand side of your steering wheel you'll have left, right up & down buttons,so use the right side button and push it several times as your doing this look at the top left of your speedo cluster you'll see that your toggling to the right from the leaf icon ect move to the one just before the gear icon "Settings icon".
Once you get there depress the down botton I think 3 X and you'll see the tire pressure on all tires.

So picked up a full size oem wheel and tire and new toyota tpms and unfortunately i programmed it with the MaxiTPMS tool but even after loading it in to the ecu the spare isn’t being pickes up by the ecu. I wonder if different markets allow for a spare to be displayed tbh as i showed the picture Dekeman posted to the Toyota dealer and they look confused. hah.

My spare is not being picked up either. I will have to get the Techstream out and see if I can set it up

It does not automatically add a spare tire simply by adding a TPMS sensor, at least it does not on my 2018 Platinum. I have been searching everywhere trying to get this enabled and Techstream cannot do it or I don’t know how to do it. When using the ID Registration utility it shows how many total tires there are. I cannot just “add” a TPMS ID by itself, you have to add all at one time so the number of tires is key. I may very well not be using Techstream correctly since you learn as you go with the software

When I went to the TPMS section it had a pop-up that asked if I wanted to change to a 5 tire setup. Was pretty intuitive.

Because they dont put a sensor in the spare. Saves Toyota $. I added because I like to run a 5 tire rotation...

Gotta save that $10 cost on a $70k truck. Should at least come in the premium trims like plat and up. How hard or expensive is it to setup or to buy techstream? I don't have techstream or know much about it. This could be a cool how to...

Need a windows laptop. I recommend the VXDiag cable that comes with a hacked (key bypass) software. Most of the cheap cables on Amazon won't work for TPMS or other advanced functions. Plenty of Techstream writeups.

I have a matching 5th wheel+tire for 5-tire rotations and to ensure I can get out of the deep backcountry if I should puncture a tire. When I purchased the setup I bought an extra OEM TPMS sensor and had it installed in the 5th wheel.

I recently had the dealer enable the spare tire pressure readout in the instrument cluster in my 2023. It looks exactly like the pic @dekeman posted above. It’s really nice to have a readout on the spare tire pressure and to have all 5 TPMS IDs stored in the ECU as it makes tire rotations a breeze.

Thanks to @dekeman for the idea!

any issues explaining to the dealer what to do, or did they make the update without question?

Anyone have the part number for the tire pressure sensor that can go in the spare?

Since the truck was due for service and multiple safety recalls and service bulletins, I made them a list. Included on that list was, “Techstream: activate 5-tire setup so truck permanently recognizes TPMS in spare.” Neither my service advisor nor the tech had questions. They didn’t charge me (maybe because I’m a longtime customer) but even if they had I would’ve paid as I believe this change requires Techstream and I’m no software engineer.

You can find cheaper options aftermarket but if you want OEM the part number I used is 42607-02050.
