Has anyone had issues with their TPWS after swapping sensors into new wheels? I know it’s supposed to automatically just pick up the tire pressure but my truck seems to be having issues..

Stock sensors were moved into my new wheels and worked for an hour before they stopped reading. I took it into Toyota and they are perplexed. They can’t get it to work either. Obviously I went through all the menus to reset before taking it in. They cleared the system, confirmed the sensors aren’t broken but they still won’t display on the tire pressure screen, just dashes no pressure values.

They gave me the truck back saying it just needs to be driven. That was a week ago. I’ve let the truck sit and idle and I’ve driven it for 30 min with no luck. Thinking I’m going to have to head back and have them swap out sensors for me. Any feedback would be appreciated thanks!

You might want to verify the stock sensors were actually swapped. I had Firestone do a set of wheels a few years back and they broke the sensors during the swap and they just used sensors they had on hand that actually wouldn’t sync to the truck.

Damaging the sensors is pretty common.

They also might not have ever worked. It takes a while to re sync with the truck so when they were shown “working” that could’ve been from the last time you drove the truck.

    Lots of stuff!
I had mine swapped when I got my new wheels. We got the truck end of Sept so the tire guy was good with swapping them, if they were much older, he wouldn't use them and get some aftermarket ones. As soon at the new tires and wheels were on the sensors appeared and worked without a hiccup.

I just pulled this screenshot off my phone:

I swapped the sensor to my new wheels myself. No issue here. Didn’t have to reprogram or anything cause I using the OE sensor that was on OE wheels. Just got new stems. Over 1000 miles now and light never came on.

Yeah this is a bummer thanks for the input guys. I did confirm the sensors were swapped over. I called the shop, and before I took it to the dealer I went by my local tire shop and they used the scanner and confirmed they are in there and working normally.. maybe it’s an issue with the TPWS in my truck not the sensors themselves?

Got my Method about 1 month ago and the guys at discount tire said they don’t have aftermarket tpms to sale me and also they didn’t have the update program for scan tool yet. They moved oem sensor from my stock wheels over and everything works fine.

My sensors just stopped working today too. Stock wheels, just +1 size tires. Same thing, just dashes, no readings whatsoever and the TPMS light is on.

Not cool. Let me know what you’re gonna do/ dealer does for you. I think I’m gonna take it in tomorrow. Light just came back on and said “malfunction visit dealer”

Following up. This is a weird one. Took it to the dealer today. They said they found a code that showed one sensor wasn’t working. I don’t see how that could have been since the app was still reading all of my tire pressures correctly.

They replaced the one sensor they said was faulty, recalibrated the system, and said they were done. Didn’t even have the truck off the lot when I noticed the light was still on and no pressures were showing. Marched back in and set up another appointment for Friday. The service guy was baffled and said he saw the light was cleared and the pressures were showing before turning over the keys. He was prepared to give me a loaner car and deep dive into what’s going on for however long it took - kudos to Toyota of Kearny Mesa. I went on my way.

Then, about 10 minutes down the road the light cleared and pressures are reading like they should. Has been fine all night. Fingers crossed.

It’s good. You have to drive it for 10-20 miles for it to do its thing.

2022 Tundra TRD Pro with 35x12.5x19 Yokohama Geolanders. My TPMS readings are 55 psi, my tires are reading 65psi (as desired with multiple gauges to double and triple check). I recently had the tire pressures checked at a local shop and the TPMS sensors did not change one bit. All four tires read exactly 55 psi...in all temperatures.

    Calibrate? replace?

I got some OEM platinum wheels for my 1794. They did not have the sensors and I was having the tire place swap the ones from my 1794 wheels to the new ones. They had an issue and said they couldn't swap the sensors so they put new sensors in. They could not get the new sensors to program to the truck, something about software only going to 2020. Does this make sense? They didn't charge me for the new sensors but I don't understand why they couldn't use the OEM ones.

Just put winters on, the initial warning light disappeared but now the pressures aren’t list on the dash. I think tire shop cloned codes from the summer tires. Perhaps it will only read off those ones and needs a second set of codes for winter tires?

Any thoughts on this? The app still shows information but not updated since last drive for what it is worth.
