Uh-oh, I got in my truck this morning to run an errand, and the Traction Control light was on, along with the Engine light, and the 4-Lo was flashing....
    Thoughts and potential repair costs?

Need to go to a parts store and they'll scan the code and see what the issue is. No way of knowing without more information.

So when I installed my Cold air intake recently, i had to take the Mass Airflow Sensor and put it in the new intake. I didnt disconnect the battery before installation as the instructions said, and i had the same problem. I disconnected and connected the battery and it was back to normal. Check your mass airflow sensor and try disconnecting and connecting the Battery, hopefully that will reset the ecu. If u still have the same problem, further inspection would need to be done. Hope this was helpful. Do you have a cold Air intake? Try to disconnect your Mass airflow sensor and change clean your filter.

    Thanks for your response.
I am not sure if there is a cold air intake, but I will do some checking. I did put in a new air filter 3 weeks ago.

snivilous gave you the right direction to go. You need to find out what code has triggered the check engine light. Usually when your CEL comes on it disables some systems, like trac control and 4 wheel drive and ABS but depends on the code. You need the OBD II code reader to retrieve it, which you can use at most auto stores.

    Thanks to each of you!
My concern is if it's ok to drive it to get it scanned. Details, details......

I think those lights are also common with a damaged abs sensor too.

For $30 or so you can read the codes yourself with a Smartphone. The freeze frame data stored will show when it first occurred and can be helpful. Just keep in mind it all gets lost with a battery disconnect.

Grab an Elm327 OBD Bluetooth dongle, and any of the better OBD apps out there. I like OBD Fusion and its $5. If you want the Toyota PID pack to read body codes or transmission info, that's another $10.

Having these tools with you all the time is money well spent IMO.

    To all of you, thanks.
I got it checked, and it looks a bit frightening.
    The codes it read are:
P2757, torque converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit Performance or Stuck off.
C1201, Brake Boost Sensor Circuit Range/Performance.
I learned that I can't check the tranny fluid because it's a sealed system. Other than a high idle when I initially start it, it seems to run ok. Shifting doesn't appear to be an issue - it runs smoothly. I bought it last September and haven't put many miles on it (it now has 152,200).
I suspect this will be an expensive lesson.

How old is the battery? When the battery gets weak these can throw strange codes.

Do you know if the trans ever had the fluid changed?

It's not hard to do but you need some basic tools to know the fluid temperature when the overflow plug is pulled.

I've done it on my IS-350 and set it correctly. Its the same A760 trans in the 350 as the 4.6 uses.

I'm sure there are writeups here, if not swing over to toyotanation if your the DIY type. It can't hurt as these are known for deep issues at that mileage.
