    Running boards. wheel covers. USB power port upgrades. Side marker lights. Tailgate LED strip lights. Hard fold bed cover. Chrome overlays on mirrors door handles 3D Chrome "TUNDRA" on tailgate.
    Today my engine light came on and the traction control off message shows on the display. I pushed the traction button and the traction control light came on with "off" under it. I pressed it again on the light went off but the traction control off message was still on and the engine light stayed on.
    The truck seems to be running fine otherwise.
    Any answers would be appreciated.

    Need to scan codes. Sometimes a CEL will disable traction control, not necessarily related.

    I had the same problem after several days of unusually cold weather (-6 and averaging in the teens). 2017 SR5 (non flex fuel model).

    Rough idle when starting and after the 3rd day of driving around in 4wd hi (snow covered roads) the check engine light and "traction control off" message appeared on the display after starting it in the morning. Also, the traction control button appeared to function on the dash.

    I had the battery checked and it was solid. Today, the temperatures were higher but no change to the check engine light. I also checked the gas cap.

    Next, I disconnected the battery for about 45 minutes, reconnected it and the errors are cleared. Perhaps it was a cold weather and/or bad fuel issue.

    Update! Disconnected battery and reconnected 15 minutes later. Started engine and light was off as well as the traction control message was gone. I had the same happen several times. When I first start the engine it idles rather fast and a few seconds later slows down. If I put it in reverse before the idle slows down the light comes on and the traction control issue appears. I went to Wally World and bought a $20 code reader and when this happens I reset the codes. Only had to do the code reset once because my wife started the engine and immediately put it in reverse causing the engine light and traction control issue.

    have 2015 sr5, seems like when it was bitterly cold is when I had the problem, I have disconnected the battery and the light has gone out. It has warmed up so hoping problem is resolved.

    That can also happen if a rat chews your knock sensor wire (very common for us)

    The code will tell you knock sensor if that happens. Another clue is that the trans will not shift beyond 4th

    If it’s not shifting past 4th...Sounds like you are describing limp mode. The truck will go into limp mode for various reasons. Just saying this for everyone’s benefit.

    This is why it is important to know what the codes are. For the people disconnecting the battery and having the CEL disappear - the code and CEL will likely be back at some point. Erasing the code does not really solve the problem. If code is erased without knowing what it is, you run the risk of the problem reoccurring when you are on vacation or at a very inconvenient time or place.

    Good morning. I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra that the engine light came on. It also says traction control off. It runs fine with no issues. I am getting code P0705
    that’s means transmission range relay circuit. I hate the traction control so I ain’t replacing it.

    Hey everyone, I'm having the same issues listed in this thread. CEL, traction control OFF, and tyranny won't shift past 4th gear. I keep a scan tool hooked up so I can reset while driving which allows the truck to shift into 5th/6th. I can only get the codes to clear while at a complete stop, (at stop light) but they return as soon as I start moving. The code that comes up is transmission input shaft sensor. I replaced it when it first started happening but that did not fix the issue. I took it into the dealership for a diagnostic, and they said I need to replace my ECM/ECU. I've also tried to do a zero point calibration. No luck. My next step will be going into a transmission shop and have them diagnose it. I'm looking for guidance here, but will also let everyone know whats going on as soon as I get a remedy to this "common" issue. Thank you all.

    Hi Rabcapt -

    Please let us know what the issue ends up being. We have a 2014 Tundra 1794 and last night driving home the engine light came on and the traction control off message appeared a few times. A mechanic friend is coming over this afternoon to put the diagnostic machine on it but he also mentioned it could be the wheel bearing???

    Figures crossed its not anything major!

    Just happened in my driveway. My reader wouldn’t tell me what code was showing but it cleared it. Restarted and traction control off went out. What was fix? Was wheel bearing the problem? Hope this doesn’t become a re occurring problem.

    I had the traction control light come on, and check engine light at the same time. Traction button didnt do anything. Turned out a squirrel had chewed 3 wires under the hood, at the firewall on the passenger side. I spliced them back together (PITA) and cleared the code and it has been fine since.

    My 2014 Tundra Limited exhibited this same behavior starting on a cold morning after it had rained quite a bit the previous night. I took it to Autozone; whereby, their customer service rep read the codes with their OBD2 gadget and determined that the code indicated a misfire on the number 8 cylinder. He suggested swapping the coil to another cylinder to see if the code would be thrown again on a different cylinder. I have yet to inspect the plugs or anything of that nature. But, this unit does seem to get rather atrocious fuel economy at about 12.5 mpg (seemingly no matter how it is driven or what is being towed / hauled).

    Just had this happen to us and codes seemed to indicate a sensor issue. Garage that we took it to actually realized that the oil filter was not assembled correctly after our oil change last week which triggered a fail safe in the truck and caused the check engine light and the traction control system to shut down. That happens to prevent the engine from damage. Fixed the oil filter and the issue is completely resolved. Hope this helps someone!

    I "found" my traction control button last week and started using it since we had some snow and negative degree days and I got the traction control off message on my display and the truck went into limp mode. I read the answers above and disconnected my battery and that seemed to fix it. That is until last night. It's doing it again. I try to push the button to get it to turn on/off and nothing. I tried the op push button/hold/push button/hold to reset and nothing. Anything else I can do? I'm taking it to Autozone to read the code today but didn't know if there were any other ideas. TIA

    Same issue with my 2015 5.7L Tundra SR5 crew max flex.
    I hit a pothole on the highway on my passenger side and traction off and CEL showed up few secs later on the highway.
    Tried disconnecting battery waited 5-6 mins and plugged back in. Both lights went off but showed up back again after few miles of driving.
    OBD tool codes P0705 with other codes. I’m not sure which part to change or any wiring harness the needs to be reconnected properly. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    For whatever it’s worth…I have a 2014 and did a cooling system overhaul today. I made the mistake of not disconnecting the battery and when I was done I had both the engine light and TC fault. My guess is that due to the battery being hooked up and some of the connectors around the air box and throttle body having to be disconnected as part of the water pump replacement…they didn’t like being disconnected and reconnected while under power.

    I disconnected the battery for about a minute and that cleared it for now. Just giving the heads up in regard to connections while under power.

    I’ve been wrestling this same issue for two months The first battery reset lasted for a few weeks.its happened several times now so I replaced the battery all together yesterday and it did it again within a day ( 4th time total)
    No other issues - awesome truck- have put 275k on it with zero problems until this but I’m
    Afraid this isn’t going away as it is happening with more and more frequency. Did anyone have to actually change any sensors? I see a lot of resets and a squirrrel issue ( I don’t have that) I always idle down before I put in gear .

    4 days ago I had same issue check engine light and traction control off. I have 2016 SR5. I don’t ok it in imesiately and they said it was giving a code that indicated the throttle body?! I don’t shit about it but they’re telling me I have to spend $550 to replace that part. I just had an oil change like 3 wks ago. I was blaming it on my husband cause he drove my truck right before it happened and he does this dumb shit where he shifts the car in neutral when he gets to a stoplight. Idk any advice? I know they cleaned out the the throttle body first to see if that’s what it was and cleared codes but code came back. I saw where someone mentioned oils filter on here but you know how mechanics are they don’t like you to tell them how to do their job so not sure if I should mention that to him.

    I had this happen today on my 2017 Limited 5.7 non-flex. I limped to a service station. Code was P2112, "Throttle actuator control system - stuck in closed position". I had three of these with two "P1604 Startability fault" thrown in the mix, but I assume those are related. I've ordered a new throttle body. Hopefully that's all this is.

    Currently dealing with this. 2016 sr5. Originally threw codes p0171 and p0174. Replaced MAS per mechanic advice. Husband did not disconnect the battery at the time. No issue for a week. Threw the alerts up again this morning after going over a speed bump. Same codes. System too lean bank 1 and bank 2.

    what fuel do you use, corn oil or non-ethanol? How's your PositiveCrankcaseValve (PCV) under the IntakeManifold (IM)? Any oil seeping from it? You "could" have clogged cats...have you noticed any reduction in power?

    Do the easiest, least expensive things first...I'd try disconnecting your battery over lunch or dinner and seeing if that helps clear everything again...is your driving more short, under 5 mile trips? Sometimes if there is an issue residing in the ECU, you need to drive like 10-30 miles before it returns....
