Hey everyone I’m looking to buy a new tundra sr5, I’m debating between the trail edition package or the trd off road, truck will be used as daily and for some road trips, occasional towing, I know the packages won’t be life changing decision, but since I’m buying a new vehicle might as well get the better option, anyone got any ideas or suggestions ?

Trail edition will include some bed storage. Aside from both, I believe they’re fairly identical with one another.

Off Road package comes better equipped, fairly certain the trail edition doesn't have keyless proximity entry with push button start or dual zone climate or led headlights and fogs. Trail edition comes with a color matched grill surround and the 1794/limited grill and some bed storage but the crewmax is already so limited on bed space not sure why anyone would want to fill it up with storage bins that are screwed into the bed when you could just strap a tote in the back and be able to easily remove it when needed but that's just me.

I bought the trail, mostly because I think the grill looks better, yes easy to swap. Also like the bed storage, some say it leaks. Mine doesn't leak. Took a while and a bundle to get it transformed into my idea of a "truck". Required the dealer to install oem power folding tow mirrors and had the safe, tailgate lock and step tubes as port options. 43500 0% for 60.

TRD Off Road Package gets you the LED headlights. Not sure if they are an option on the Trail Edition, but if not that's a deal breaker in my book.

That’s not standard as part of the package. Only if you opted for the “connectivity” kit.

Yep, my bad! Guess it's been too long ago to remember the miniscule details. Time flies in my world. This day and age that should be a standard feature in all new vehicles, hard to believe it's an option. I guess just an easy way to add to the bottom line, $20 parts and labor, $200 from the consumer. Reminds me of the junk suspension I have replaced. Doubt I will ever buy a new truck again, so disappointed in many of the components Toyota used. Careful op, watch out for the sport series package, that basically amounts to some bed decals and different tires for about $5k, another money making scam.

Sport package adds color matched grille, bumper end caps and center, hood scoop, 20 inch wheels, and "sport" tuned Bilstein shocks. That's a f**k of a lot more than decals and tires. Different packages for different folks, sure, but try not to outright misinform people just because you are disappointed with your choice.

Every truck has some form of the items you mentioned except the scoop. So it's not like Toyota is adding these items, just substitution is being employed. Not a huge difference in their cost. Definitely not 5k!

Comparing it straight across to the Trail, everything I mentioned is added.

Ahhhhh. I thought you were referring to the TRD Sport Package. I stand corrected and I learned something new today. That's more of the Southern States Toyota (might be remembering name wrong) distributor package crap. They do the TSS package with wheels and stuff, too. 100% correct that those "packages" are crap. They are only regional, though, so OP only has to worry about those if they are in the South.
