Hey all, I am considering installing a train horn. Anyone have any experience or products they have they can recommend? Also mounting location for the horn and compressor? Thanks.

Apparently it’s a truck, but I’ve always liked trains too.

Hahaha :argue: . Not sure why it’s such a hot topic. You can use it if you want, orrr…you don’t have to use it.

I'm sorry for judging you too hastily, now you have me considering getting one...too many assholes on the road. It might be obnoxious, but also necessary...

hahaha it’s all good. I mean, you don’t have to always use it. I definitely understand the dangers of it and woundnt want to scare anyone to cause an accident. But….if there is an asshole on the road, it’s either the train horn or a handful of change.

It is a dang shame but anymore there seems to be at least one news story about road rage and gun play involved. I love those things but I think it would be one more thing to push some mentally unstable POTrash idiot over the edge!!! They are fun though!!!!:)

one person I knew mounted the horns and such where the spare tire is and now puts the spare in the bed! They sound awesome!!! :) You would need as many horns as you can squeeze under there!!!!:)

I just did an install on mine a couple of months ago. I have the Spare tire delete kit that was linked by @Drootz. I have a locking bed cover so my spare is in there now.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
    Already been done:

I guess if you want to be a douchebag go all out and roll coal, make two stroke diesel sounds, and have giant air horns.

I think train horns are douchy but that truck is pretty sick, the engine and transmission on it are super cool and, the boat horn is definitely unique unlike train horns. I think if someone is going to install an air horn, the way to go is an actual truck horn like Hadley horns which are found on most dump trucks. Its loud, sounds good, but not douchy like a train horn.

Hey train horns are not douchy, at least not when they’re mounted on a locomotive.

I mean, who doesn’t want a horn so loud and obnoxious that it triggers a stress response—adrenaline dump, loss of peripheral vision and auditory senses, and momentary flinching paralysis, etc—in other drivers.

    For safety, of course! Lol.

My eventual plan later this summer is to get a hood scoop, as they offer no actual function currently, and 3D print the internal horn shape to attach to one of the $50 mini-compressor-run WOLO style "air" horns. A little hose to run the mini compressor remotely and a small secondary invisible hole in the hood, and tada, the useless thing has a hilarious function.

I'll try it all out bench side first, and if the thin shape doesn't play out for the concept, I can always just put a thin LED bar in there and call it a day.

Good insight. I definitely will consider a dump truck horn instead.
