    Hey all,

my engine light is on and I think the code is pointing to the tranny temp sensor. Anyone know where to find it? I’m struggling finding info online. Thanks!

Can you post the code you're having from the check engine light?

Need the code to understand if you’re even chasing the correct thing down.

Open circuit or high resistance (>157 ohms) in the circuit. Remove connector at tranny and ohm it out with a VOM

    Note this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

Do yourself a favor. Click that link. See the 4th or 5th line, look the link to Service Manuals. Grab the one pertinent to your year.

Inside you can lookup the OBDII P-code you got and see it points you to what can cause the condition on DI-394, and diagnostic process on DI-412. It appears the engine coolant temp sensor (green sensor, on passenger side of throttle body) is involved in the circuit FYI. I suggest you click the button to download a copy for future use, it may not be online forever.

Also note on the same line of that thread, link to wiring diagrams. May be helpful in your endeavors to test with a DMM.

If you're feeling lazy and don't want that wealth of information on your hands, here's the screenshot from the 00-03 FSM showing info that may get you started. It may just be the ATF temp sensor is borked, or a harness is fried/loose/busted.
