I can't really find the info on this anywhere and was surprised it wasn't in the included documentation when I purchased the trd intake, but how often should these filter be cleaned, and is everyone who has them using the trd air filter cleaning kit? I've seen some bad reviews about the kit and I currently have a k&n filter cleaning kit from my previous car that had a k&n air filter. Would it be alright to just use that and what is the recommended cleaning interval?

I'm treating my TRD filter like a K&N. Clean every 40,000 to 60,000 miles. I kinda split the difference and plan on cleaning it at 50,000 miles. I also plan on getting the TRD cleaner kit. Just keep it all in the family.

I’ve checked a lot of toyota website and it seems like the Trd cleaning kit is being or has been discontinued. I’ve just read a lot of reviews that the spray nozzle for the oil sucks and doesn’t mist the filter but comes out more in a stream or doesn’t work and you end up over oiling your filter

The filters are probably made by K&N or afe. I would clean the filters according to the regular filter maintenance intervals. A clean filter never hurts.

I won't lie, the last time I oiled a filter was when K&N sold their oil in an aerosol can. I think it's been like 11-12 years. I haven't held onto one long enough where it needed to be oiled. HA! Seems like their new kit is like a shampoo bottle, opens at an angle, and you run it over the ridges. After a quick search on Amazon, I found the TRD kit but its 3 times the amount of K&N. You can always put it in a different bottle that mists better.
