TRD Beadlocks

Greetings all,

New member, just posted in the new members section. Just bought a 2005 Double cab Limited. Will get pics posted soon.

So what I have been trying to find out for several days, and can't seem to get an answer for is about the TRD Beadlock/FJ Baja wheels. Currently no lift and 265/65r17 stock tires and split spoke OEM 17" rims. I like the look of the rims and would keep them...but do not want to run spacers, and would like to minimize work to be done to fit 275 or 285s later on. So I am searching for rims that have the correct backspacing to work, and will sell the OEMs to offset the cost a bit.

I found a great deal on a set of 5 TRD "Beadlocks" with BFG KO2 265/75/16 with under 2000 miles on them. However, from what I have (not) been able to find, is if they will clear the brake calipers. I believe without looking that I have the 13WL calipers since mine is a 2005 DC. I've seen an old post where the OP put them on his 2004 DC, but there is no information about backspacing or rub for larger tires.

The seller measured and said it looks like they have 4.5" of backspacing which would be perfect from what I am reading here. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true will I be able to upgrade to 275 or 285 without rub? UCA or frame? Anyone have pics of the setup?

Next plan is to put OME 2.5 coilovers in the front, and an ICON 3 leaf AAL and OME nitrochargers in the rear.

I just bought a set of the 17" TRD Rock Warrior wheels (I believe this is what you are referring to) that have 285/70R17 tires on them. I plan to put them on a stock 2020 crewmax so it isn't directly relative to your inquiry but, if I can answer any questions about the dimensions, I will try.

The ones I found are black, 16". I believe they make them in 17" but haven't been lucky enough to find any.

 

Thanks but no these aren't the ones. I attached which ones I am talking about. They would be a nice option if they fit the lug pattern the first gens have (6x5.5)

 

Oh, ya. 1st gen bolt pattern is 6x5.5 (6x139). Please, ignore my comment.

I have a set of the ones you are referring to in Black but they have 265 as well.

 

They will fit...only Toyota 16 inch rims that won't are these 3rd from a 3rd Gen 4runner...but Ithink you can even make these fit with minor grinding to the caliper.

 

Are you able to confirm the backspacing of these? They're the exact ones I am talking about.

 

It's a bit primitive but I got the measurement.
Backspacing was a hair under 120mm (maybe 119mm?)

 

Thanks, looks like you are pretty much spot on per the online calculator I used with width and Toyota listed offset. Seems like I'll most likely have rub with anything over a 265. Hmm.

 

Those are my favorite TRD wheel. They're around 4.75 backspace, 285 can fit with Camburg or TC UCA but not with stock arms. You will rub frame on 285.

If you really want them just run 265/75 the difference is hardly noticeable in AT or MT. I've pulled up beside Tundras running 265/75 BFG and they look the same as my 285/75.

 

Went to stealer yesterday to pick up a washer I dropped from the backside of my manifold yesterday during my quest for vacuum greatness. The banjo fitting is just like the fuel rails where its easy to loose a washer and this time I did. Ended up at parts dept for a $2 washer and parked next to this 2019 4Runner?

Anyhow, I believe things happen for a reason. While at stealer I scored on 3 ‘free’ 2020 calendars!

Pulling out of parking lot, a guy being trailed by a cop accidentally? had his 6’ fiberglass HD ladder drop off the back of his van in the middle of the street right in front of me. Cop said it yours. It will be used nicely at Dereks Center.

 

Here is a temporary washer I fabbed up from some old sckool brass washers sitting around. The soft metal is perfect, but the aluminum and brass will cause corrosion together.

Yea, I think I might just stick with 265/70 for the time being. The seller said he's willing to let me put one on to test it out before I buy, so I'll keep everyone posted afterwards.

 

If I could find a fairly thin wheel spacers to convert my proper 6 lug pattern to the abomination that is the newer tundra 5 lug I'd really be considering those wheels. I could probably work it all together with a rear axle upgrade. Too bad the only wheel adapters I've seen were 2" thick and that would make my truck about 88-90" side. A bit excessive in my opinion.
Then again I guess going to 5 on 5.5 would probably be better and then I could build a ford 9" to match!

 

They do exist in 6 lug, I have a brand new set of 5. They're a now discontinued VIN locked item from Toyota and only came on super rare 4Runners.

 

Spotted in the wild today on a Lexus GX470. I thought they had 6 lugs like us? Guess I was wrong.

GX/LX470s and GX460s are 6 lug
LX570s (Along with LC200s) went to 5 lug with the 2nd Gen Tundras...

Actually, you're right. It was the LX. I just googled one and realized the front end is different.

 

Well, just an update, the seller sold them before I had a chance to meet up and try them out. The search continues for used wheels that have proper backspacing! A guy at work runs the exact ones I was looking at on his Taco, I asked him about them and he didn't have any issues with rub despite having 4.64 backspacing. Although he does run TC UCAs and did the CMC for his Taco.

 

Bummer. I hope you can find some suitable wheels.
I won't be able to answer any more questions on these as I sold the set that I measured the backspacing on.
