What skid plates are they referring too when they say "skid plates" in the off road package description? Based on what I have read doing a search here and the two Gen 3 Tundras I have looked with the off road package they DO NOT have a TRD skid plate up front? I'm confused?

It's not the TRD off road plate that comes on the TRD PRO model, it's a different, smaller more flimsy plate.

Look at this video at 22 sec mark you'll see the plate that comes with the TRD Off Road package .

The TRD PRO skid plate has never come on any of the basic TRD OR trucks.

I think that is baloney, if you get the TRD off road package you should get a real TRD skid plate! I had watched that video, it appeared that truck did not have the motorized lower air dam? Does that interfere with adding a TRD front skid plate?

No, from what I read, one has to actuate the air dam down to install the TRD Plate....therefore it is compatible.

My biggest pet peeve is Toyo calling a small plastic panel a "skid plate." It barely protects anything. I understand there is no legal definition of what a legit skid plate is and that it's all just up to the marketing department...but come on man! If you polled 1,000 truck owners and asked what material makes up a skid plate, I promise you that 100% of them would say some type of metal. If someone says they're going to pay extra to buy a nice cutlery set and they end up getting plastic knives...they'd be pissed. This is basically the same thing.

That being said, I'll take the plastic "skid plate" over whatever that fabric blanket is they used on the non-skid plate models. In the end, it no longer matters to me since I installed the legit TRD skid plate as the first "upgrade" I did on my truck. Just sucks that I had to spend an extra $400 to upgrade something that Toyota already sold to me as an "upgrade."

Agreed, the off-road pkg should include real metal plates...many of us will be adding the 'real' front plate.

I think there is also an additional "skid plate" covering the fuel tank.

I wouldn't even waste your time/ money with the trd skid plate- look for C4, RCI, etc to drop aftermarket "real" skidplates here in the next few months. I had the trd skid plate on one of my tundra's, that thing was tin foil

Anyone have the part number for the "skid plate" that came on a 2021 TRD Off Road. The one the body shop put on is a joke, so I'm trying to find the part number to show them what it is supposed to look like but the only skid plate I can find even on Toyota's parts site is the TRD Pro plate.
