Looking to purchase for a daily driver. Would spend little to no time actually off reading. Was wondering if the TRD off road package would still be worth daily driving quality.

You might like the ride quality better but other than that would not miss anything.

No, but it would probably help resale?

Honestly I had a trd off road Tacoma and a trd pro Tacoma and never used the locker or crawl/MTS. Crawl/MTS are gimmicks, the only real useful thing is the locker and you have to be in 4Lo to be able to engage it. If you don’t plan to do any serious off-roading than the off road package is kind of useless. You can upgrade the suspension to be better than the Bilstiens that come with the off road so if you are planning mods I’d pass.

    Greetings from the West

I went with the TRD package for the locking rear diff. That was an important feature to me. I do soft roading up in Norcal and the occasional washout/flooded road. You do not not need to go fender banging off-road to gain use of the functionality. Me personally I have order my truck to my liking as oppose to adding bunch of after market.

What kind of daily driving streets, super slab or access dirt roads? Occasional camping?

Possibly a rear wheel drive limited would be a good choice.

You will get a more interest at resale, but I can't comment if get a higher price.

    Lots of stuff!
We don’t use the locker but the multi view cameras are indispensable!

The truck is just too big when parking or in close maneuvers without these cameras.

The ride is pretty good but we have only tried an base SR5 as a comparison.

We also het the TRD branded interior parts with the Canadian TRD package!

I have the TRD OR. I have never used the rear locker. The MTS is really cool though, I have used that several times. Some other small things like the aluminum pedals are good. Ride is nice. Wheels are 18’s also plus they are black. It overall has a nice curb appeal. Makes me look like a bad ass when I stop to get some eggs and milk.

If you’re just driving around normal on regular roads you have no real reason to get it unless you want it.

So I have the Non-TRD OR (stock) Limited 4X4 and the first mod I did was to acquire the TRD OR Bilstein shocks/struts and TRD PRO 18” wheels “take offs” to improve the ride. The stock shocks/struts and 20” wheels are not as controlled as I would like. Did the same with my 2016 Tundra. I probably would have just bought the TRD OR package if I could have found it with Limited or Platinum at the time.

I suppose it depends what you do with your truck. I've owned my 22' with off-road package for 6 months and I've used the locker, MTS and crawl control several times.

Hitting trails in the PNW, especially in winter and early spring make a locker a must.

I came from a GX470 and pushed that vehicle to it's absolute limits and eventually had to install a locker so I was able to go more places. I took it to Moab, the Sierra's, Death Valley, all over and I camped places with my family that wouldn't have been an option if I didn't install a locker.

When I first started looking at replacing my GX, the 2.5 gen Tundra was still the current platform. I never even considered it as an option because of it's lack of traction technology. I didn't want to deal with the cost and hassle of buying and setting up gears again.

I've always loved the size of the Tundra so when it was released with an OR package with a locker, it became my prime choice. I owned a TRD Off-road 4Runner in 2016 that had the crawl control and locker and absolutely loved it.

If you're occasionally picking up 2x4's from Home Depot on the weekend, you don't need the OR package. If you take your truck places that require a locked diff, then the OR package is absolutely worth it because locking an open diff is very costly.

I've used the traction control on my Land Cruiser a number of times. Works amazingly well and got me through some tough spots. I don't offroad my Tundra in the same way, but having the rear locker may come in handy, but likely only a few times if ever for me.

I'm doing the exact same. TRD OR axles, shocks and struts getting installed today. Upgraded TRD aluminum skid plate and TRD center caps for my 2024 Limited Nightshade 4x4. Will add the TRD Pro grill to complete my ultimate TRD Mutt Package :D.

I test drove two Limited models; one with and one without TRD. I liked the ride better of the TRD. Felt like it cornered a little better. Towing the boat is my main "requirement" and when I did the "sit on the bumper" test, the TRD held better. This may mean it is rougher over some road bumps, but I think it is better towing. Even on the road, I think it is super comfortable. All wisdom also points to better resale in the future.
As a side benefit, all my off-road friends are talking me into little trips and they have been fun.

Might as well join the crowd of others that don't use the capabilities. Make sure to get the biggest tires and tallest lift to complete the package. Shiny never scratched skid plates put you over the top.

I,didn’t,need, any of the Offroad stuff but I chose because of the heated steering wheel, blindspot, and I liked the grill better. Also came with bed rails that the sr/sr5 didn’t.

    I'm wondering as well.

I like the look better. I need/want a skid plate. I do drive up in the mountains/dirt roads fairly often. Specially in the summer time. Not a huge need for me but it's something I want.

I test drove the regular suspension, TRD OR, and AVS extensively before making a decision. Ironically I felt the TRD OR had by far the best road manners.

Locally in Utah it seems like the Hybrids are not selling very well. Neither are the higher end models. SR5 and Limited seems to be selling, specially the ice cap color which is what I'm looking for. There seems to be availability for other colors.
