I don’t have much experience with the base SR5 shocks. But I do have an DC Offroad and I really enjoy the ride quality. So much so that I just decided to install a small spacer instead of getting Eibach adjustable shocks to raise the front an inch…

Aren't these just the TRD Sport shocks? If I were just trying to replace stock shocks on a budget I'd go with these, but if I were actually looking to upgrade I'd probably go with 5100s or better.

I’ve had a Trd off road, a limited non Trd and now a Trd sport. I wouldn’t consider these an “upgrade” by any stretch of the imagination.

Those are part of the Sport package, blue/red. Blue/yellow would be the ones from the off road package. Certainly better than the black toyota shocks, which are subpar at best.

So the red/blue shocks aren’t really much of a step up then? The Bilstien 5100’s would be better?

Similar, you could say the black OE shocks ride softer. The OR Bilsteins have better rebound dampening, which can make the ride feel a bit stiffer, but also a bit more controlled. If all you want is comfort and you dont drive like a sports car driver then stick with the black shocks.

There are better options than the blue/yellows for only a couple hundred more, if you plan to go offroad.

Stay away from the sport reds unless you prefer stiff and plan to drive the truck more like a sports car on the road.

Incorrect. The red/blue shocks found on the Sport models were actually pretty plush.

If you are looking for an inexpensive replacement for the crappy black shocks, then get these. They will be just fine.

I guess since I've owned and ran them, that since my opinion is different than yours, it is "incorrect". Despite first hand knowledge of having ridden or owned all 3 of the shocks we're talking about here. Ok. :monocle:

The SR5s are pretty sloppy, but they ride like a boat, no real harshness, no real steering feel.

The OR shocks fix most of that, but do firm up the ride a bit.

If you want to argue that the sport shock which Toyota markets as "On-road racing inspired TRD Performance shock absorbers were specifically designed to increase the on-road driving experience focusing on ride, handling, and steering response" and "Reduces vehicle roll, braking dive, and take off acceleration squat" are plush, go ahead.

    https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota__...nt-Shocks-and-Struts/69528962/PTR1334070.html

The combo of the 20" wheels, sway bars, and shocks made the Sport the stiffest Tundra I've owned. The Pro was by far my favorite and I'm currently in a 21 Off Road that I've since changed to aftermarket.

Yep if you can get 4 Bilstein 4600's for $100 definitely a no brainer. I think new they're almost 100 each shock. Road ride on these Bilstein's is pretty good in my opinion.

As I said, the red/blue shocks found on the Sport models are pretty plush. I never said it felt plush with the added 20" rims/tires, and sway bars. That in itself creates a whole different feel. For someone looking for an inexpensive replacement, the Sport shocks will suffice. I'd buy them over the crappy black ones and the "off-road" blue/yellow ones any day...
