TRD PRO 2023 being offered at MSRP, what do I lose over the 2024

A dealer has offered to sell me their 2023 TRD PRO tundra at MSRP. I am wondering should I take it. How much is the 2024 improved. All I can see are the control arms are different. Any other fundamental changes?

 

What do they consider MSRP?

 

Headliner is now black as well, small aesthetic improvement.

 

Its a dealer who does not do markups, the person who purchased this has backed out. So just my luck.
BTW california markups on 2024s are now down to around 2000-3000$ of dealer installed stuff

 

Software I am guessing if its a problem will be redone on 2023 too. And as for fuel level sensor, if it goes bad within 3 years, it will be replaced

 

did some more research. Its effectively the same truck. And it has the color I want, so will go for it!

 

The issue with fuel level sensor on 22 and 23 is not that it's going bad but incorrect reading from placement of the fuel level sensor. They released a software update but some still has the problem. I haven't had issue and I park on a hill but other members has reported still a problem. Supposedly 2024 they relocated or added another sensor.

 

Assume the 2024 MSRP rises so to will pay more. If truck color and options go on for it

 

Since it is at the end of the model year, you lose a year of depreciation.

 

I’d take the 24 for the headliner and control arms. The black headliner makes a huge difference . Only reason I’d take a 23 is if it were solar octane

 

Depending where you live...Everybody around me....NJ 7-10 over MSRP.. I found one in build form waited two months and I'm very happy with the 2023 TRD Pro at MSRP and not around NJ..I heard about the black headliner after I long ordered, for me the headliner is not an issue..and 2024's few grand more and some dealers more ...more. the control arm...not sure, been reading people with tire wear TRD Pros I just don't know ! I had a 2023 Platinum, it was really nice, just didn't like the soft ride...TRD PRO model is a huge difference for me that I really like !

 

Anything over msrp isn’t worth it. 81-85k for these is laughable

 

We were keen on the red interiors, and this one had it. And the MSRP is about 1000+ lower than 2024
Another good thing, it does not have any addons like steps and door guards which every 2024 I see has pushing MSRP 2K more. I plan to get real sliders for this one since I plan to offroad it, just like I did our Lexus

 

Skip the 23 for the black headliner and interior of the 24

 

Especially since op said red interior.

I promise you the black liner will make the red interior even better. But it is cheaper and if it’s not a concern then you go for the 23. I’m waiting for my guy to pop a red interior allocation and I’ll reevaluate pricing and see if o wanna move to one. I love the red but I like my blue too

 

Get that 24 Terra

 

Just purchase my 24 from Toyota of Carlsbad CA and they sell everything at MSRP

 

Well guys, we loved the red interior on the white TRD pro. Did not like Terra color much. Carsbad had too much waiting, and even without markups due to things like steps and the like the 24 was pushing 75, a good 2K more than this 73. Well 2023 it is! Mechanically its very similar, and that extra 2K can go towards mods and maybe some extended warranty

I would be nervous about taking 2023 as it probably has older transmission and engine programming.

We're still waiting for the throttle delay fix for our 2022s

 

It's software. The new version may introduce another bug while fixing the first one. Just the nature of software: never 100 percent bug free

 

I'd rather have latest software in this case...

 

For a potential software bug.. I guess saving 2000$ due to older price and getting the exterior/interior combo we wanted is better.

I am wondering whether extended warranty is worth it, and what kind of extended warranty I should go for. Advice?

 

I just bought a new 23 TRD Sport. Went with the Toyota 8yr/100k bumper to bumper with a $0 deductible. Extended service contracts are always frowned upon. But if you need it or use it one time. Pays for itself. I worked in the car business for 10 years. So I saw both sides of it. Same with wheel and tire packages. People would say they are worthless. But if you get a flat or bend a wheel and get it all replaced. Pays for itself and still have coverage for however many years.

 

I really like the white/grey/cream headliner in mine...breaks up all that black visually. I went for the extended (10 year I believe) warranty because they offered it at basically cost.

 

I’m planning on getting the extended warranty just because we don’t know the longevity of this “new” engine. There’s an extended warranty thread where you can request some info. The cost I was quoted for a 10 yr 100k mile made it well worth it in my opinion.

 

I'll sell you mine - 8400 miles on it and it needs tires.

 

It's not about money or extended warranty...

Problem is that Toyota isn't releasing a fix for some of the issues that 2022 and 2023 have. Such as throttle lag.

Curently, the only recourse for some of us 2022 and 2023 owners is to trade in our trucks, get hit with a huge loss of $5-15k (15k for me) to get into a newer truck so it's pleasant to drive.

Will this be an issue for you? Hopefully not, but I wouldn't take a 2023 because I'm trying to save couple thousand when spending $75k on a new truck

 

Do we know for sure that the throttle lag has been fixed in the 2024?
