Has it been determined if the TRD Pro exhaust is actually the same standard muffler with the only difference being the lack of the resonator in the tailpipe? We own a ‘24 TRD Pro Sequoia in addition to our Tundra. The exhaust on the Sequioa sounds really nice and definitely has more growl compared to our Tundra.

I'd like to buy the TRD tailpipe which comes without the resonator but I only want to if it will sound the same as our Sequoia. I haven’t heard the TRD Pro Tundra but I assume they sound the same as the TRD Pro Sequoia. I’ve turned off the engine noise with Carista so I’m not confusing the exhaust sound with the fake sound.

The old saying about a silk purse out of a sows ear! It a 6 cylinder no matter how hard one tries it will never sound like a V8. Just the facts ma’am, just the facts!!:)

From the ones I have heard there is not that much of a difference and in no way does it have any benefits?? that I know of?

Thanks for sharing that tear down. It is like a Turbo Chambered with a mini resonator/glass pack inside. Interesting design.

Out of curiosity I should have cracked open my Gen 2.5 muffler to see what was inside.

It’s the same, only slightly less restrictive.

As noted the Toyota Gen3 Pro exhaust is just two tips on a single stick of pipe without the resonator - total waste of cash. If you want the best solution look at @TigWeldingCreations exhaust. YouTube, FB or a thread here in the Performance and Tuning section. You will not find a better sounding system or a system of higher quality in materials or workmanship. Do your research because Carven and all others don't come close in any aspect. I'm a TWC Gen3 exhaust owner and I've had the OEM and another true "fart can" option - the TWC is amazing and is hands down the best exhaust available for the Gen3.

The stock muffler is a huge restriction. There’s actually power to be had by removing it. It’s a shame to pay money to just make it louder but not to gain power.

After literally hundreds of experiments building gen3 exhaust I’ve determined that the tailpipe resonator is there for a reason. There is an unwanted amount of drone without it.

the gen3 drones at very low rpm, and it drones on the highway. Both are different frequencies.

the low rpm drone can only be removed using a true Helmholtz resonator, a quarter wave acoustical stubbed resonator is far less effective at removing the low rpm drone.

Have you tried a true dual catback exhaust for the 3rd gen v6?

We are also able to make it sound like a raptor for only $350 shipped in stainless steel. LOL

with over 100 options built for the end user, not just the truck, there’s no reason to guess what your truck will sound like in real life.

You get what you pay for. Pics of quality materials (stainless steel), workmanship (TIG welding), fitment and finish are a tangible measure of quality. I've seen TWC's quality, and I own one. The sound quality matches the visual quality. I've seen the visual quality of other - no wow factor there. You get what you pay for.

They're not going to put a NA V10 in them, but that would be awesome. Modern F1 cars sound terrible (in my best Charles Barkley voice).

I just like a nice tone. But not a lot of noise/volume
