TRD Pro Owners With 35's and 37's- Would You Do Anything Differently?

    Hi all,

I am awaiting delivery of a '23 TRD Pro and have researched for months on this forum about upgrading the stock tires to 35" and 37" on the stock rims with/without a lift. The first mod I'll do is larger tires and I am torn between 35's/stock suspension and 37's with a 2-3" lift.

I think they look great either way and realize it's subjective/personal preference, but hindsight is always 20/20 and your input as owners is valuable. Your pros/cons and perspective is much appreciated! Gas mileage decreases is a given and not a major concern.

So my question is; if you went with 35's and didn't do a lift, how happy with the overall look and height are you? Do you wish you would've gone with 37's and a lift or are you planning to? Do you think 35's on stock suspension is a noticeable enough upgrade compared to the stock tires?

For those who went with 37's and a 2"-3" lift, do you regret it/wish you wouldn't have gone that large or are you very satisfied with the result?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
Why are you buying a pro if you’re just going to lift. Put 35s for max without rub.

35s make the truck look great. Honestly it should’ve come with 34s, maybe 35s as stock. No need for lift unless you want to be higher. Don’t expect MPGs above mid teens with 35s vs over 20 with OEM. Get the lightest big tire you can find

Neither. Light off road (fire roads, mountain biking and camping) and towing a 20' Sea Ray, the same as I do currently with my 2014 Platinum Tundra. Definitely no additional clearance need for a lift and tires larger than 35s, other than possibly a slight lift in the rear like I've seen others on this forum do to combat sag while towing or overlanding.
The TRD Pro is still so new and rare on the streets that I just haven't seen any in person to know what they look like with 35s and stock suspension vs. a small lift and a little larger tire. Pictures are helpful but owner perspective is even better.

I dont think you will have to combat sag with your boat. I tow a 23 1/2 foot Sea Hunt (about 5k w/ trailer and fully fueled) and I got really worked up about the sag after reading some posts here. I installed the airlift 5000 ultimate air bags thinking sag would be an issue. With my boat hooked up and the bags empty, there is minimal sag. I have even forgot to air up the bags a couple times and there is minimal difference.

I too plan to upsize my tires. I will probably go with 295/70 R18 instead of 35s. I really like the TRD Pro suspension and some 35s require you to remove the mudflaps. The 295/70 R18 look like they were meant to be there in my opinion.

despite the internet, 37's are not quick and easy unless you just never plan on hitting anything larger than a speedbump.

Such solid info about sag from towing, thanks a ton! Yeah, there is just no real way to know until you actually do it and assess the result, but at least you have the air bags if you ever need them. Also thanks for you thoughts on tire size, I currently have Toyo AT III's (305/55 R20) and they are great tires for wet/ice/snow and their tread life is stellar. They are a heavy tire but support the weight of the truck well and look good. Thinking I would do them in a 35x12.50 and hopefully just trim the flaps a little on the new truck w/stock suspension.

37s all day I feel 35s would have been to small. I did Icon stage 7 and I absolutely love this truck added 1" spidertrax spacer. Had to do alot of trimming for the 37s. Love this truck!20230712_102404.jpg IMG_2274(1).jpg IMG_2275(1).jpg

Thanks bud, this is good info. I'm gathering that going to 37's is not a simple upgrade and definitely a commitment to suspension mods and some cutting. 35's on stock TRD Pro suspension seems like the way to go for most who want a slightly more aggressive stance compared to stock, and is fairly straightforward.

It's interesting, my buddy has a Raptor and just put 37's on his stock wheels and stock suspension, no rubbing and no cutting or grinding needed. Geometry varies so much from make to make.

a Raptor is in a different league than a TRD Pro. Just like how we can upgrade from a 33 to a 35, a raptor or F250 Tremor can upgrade from a 35 to a 37.

If you want aggressive look buy aggressive MT tires. You don’t need massive tires with massive adjustments.

I have a 23 trd pro. I fit 35s on it without rubbing or removing mud flaps. Didn’t like the look so put a westcott spacer lift on it. Rides just like stock and like the look. Only complaint it will sag when loaded or pulling a boat.I’m about to put some rear air bags to deal with that issue

Exactly. My buddy is running 37" KM3's on his F250 Tremor, no lift, no trimming.

Raptors are coming from the factory with 37's.

    I have a 23 Tundra TRD pro with 285/75/18
Essentially 35s. stock tires looked too small on my pro. Biggest I would go without a lift. No rubbing.

Truck looks really nice! I definitely agree that the stock tires do look a little undersized compared to when upgraded to 35s. I bet Toyota would've done 35s stock if the MPG's were better and the 33's are a compromise.

For your described needs, 35’s all the way. They’re basically plug and play. 37’s you’ll have some work to do beyond just tire swap. I have 35s and love them. The MpG hit going to 35s was significant, I wouldn’t want whatever additional hit the 37s would give.

Went with 285-75-r18 on aftermarket wheels on zero offset . I wish I went with more positive offset . Just a little . I love the way it looks but when it rains the water goes right up to the side view mirror cameras and they become useless . Puts some new fender flares and will add mud flaps after I lift it a little more.

Thanks . That is probably true with the stock size. I only put on about 500 miles on the original tires. I liked how comfortable they were with minimal road nose. So that’s why I stuck with the Falken wildpeak At3ws. They are taller of course, but the width is the same as the stock tires.

if you mean side steps? I got these optioned on my truck. They are metal and have a non slip texture. I like how they look and how much easier it is to get in and out of my truck.

For $1600 they better help you get in and out of the truck at the minimal. I can get bare metal CBI sliders shipped for that much.

they are really overpriced. Came from the factory with them installed. Dealer charged me MSRP otherwise. So I just kept them.

Most don’t but I needed to pin back my mud flaps with a zip tie. Took 5 minutes
