Got a good deal on 4 TRD pro wheel so I picked them up so I could finally ditch my ugly steel rims.

Took them into discount tire and found out the lug nuts would not work.

Toyota wanted $12 per lug nut. Luckily I got a set for $50 shipped after market.

Today I finally got to Discount Tire and halfway through the install he came to me and said that my tpms sensors are not plugging play and they actually broke one.

I called Toyota they wanted 100 per sensor.

Discount found them aftermarket for 60 each and they are buying the one they broke.

So long story short nothing is compatible from a TRD pro wheel to a standard tundra wheel. Except my the wheel and tire itself.

I am in these wheels an extra $230 I wasn't planning on spending, if I went with all Toyota parts I would have been an extra 640!!

    Learn from my mistakes fellas,

Um. That sucks. But most know that the components between steel wheels and the alloy wheels are not compatible.

Steel wheel lugs and tpms will not work with aluminum/alloy wheels. Sucks you had to find out the hard way. Looks great though.

True. I should have known or researched it better. Discount Tire didn't know either.

We all make a mistake every now and then. But, discount tire should have known. They are supposed to be "tire experts". At least they covered the one they broke.

I thought a thread a while back some were saying that you could use the ones from the steel rims in an alloy, just have to flip them?

I know, I was kinda being sarcastic. I don't use those chain type tire stores. I stick to the mom and pop tire shop I've been using for about 25 years now.

Discount Tire was able to swap the TPMS from my steel wheels to my alloy Pros. They "technically" don't fit but if they angle them a bit different they work just fine. I haven't had any problems yet.

Discount Tire (in our area anyway) are by no means "Experts". There is a lot of turnover. They are mostly High Schoolers or fresh outta High School types that are hard working but certainly run into challenges on a daily basis. As with any service shop or tire shop, it is always best to call ahead and discuss your services needed. Lugs and TPS, warranty / certs. etc.

The shop I went to was able to reuse my TPMS just fine. Lug nuts I had to order. All that trouble was worth it though! Your setup looks great
