    So a couple "simple" questions:
    1. when you look these up on sparks or any other OE vendor, it says these do not work with 4x4 trucks - any specific reason?
    2. what is the difference in these vs the OE bilstein sport shocks?
    3. were the springs a different rate and/or height on the TRD Sport vs OE SR5 springs?
half curious, half maybe thinking going this route

    1. when you look these up on sparks or any other OE vendor, it says these do not work with 4x4 trucks - any specific reason? I saw the same but it's not accurate... I just installed a set on my 21 Limited 4x4. along with the TRD Sport sway bars front and rear. Purchased everything from TRDShop.com
    2. what is the difference in these vs the OE bilstein sport shocks? The red Bilstein's are OE for the TRD Sport. The Part #'s I installed... Front-PTR13-34070, Rear-PTR13-34071.
    3. were the springs a different rate and/or height on the TRD Sport vs OE SR5 springs? I had the same question about spring rate and couldn't find a definitive answer. After install the front end was about 1/2 in higher than the stock black shocks.

the spring rates on the 2nd, 2.5 gens are same I am pretty sure. Sport package (red/blue) shocks are tuned for the road, handling if you will. They are a step up from the awful black shocks. OR package (blue/yellow) are tuned for off road/ I think they are the best of the bunch for road and all around driving, comfort (other than the Pro setup) as far as stock goes. Sports are a bit sportier, can ride firmer especially with higher load tires. OR shocks seem to be more complaint, but still good road feel, handle some offroad, not bad at all as far as stock shocks for everyday use.

If you are looking at the sport shocks, certainly look at the TRD rear sway. Low cost and huge impact on handling regardless of which factory shock, though I would not mount one on a Pro model.

And yes, many of the toyota vendor sites will state an item is not for your truck/trim, model etc. I dont know why, it is incorrect. Generally unless it is a drivetrain difference, 2wd vs 4wd, most all the parts on Tundras 2.5 gens work on all the other trims. And you can always ask here to confirm something or a part number because it is something everyone with a tundra experiences if they buy parts from toyota online.

I will say that I've had a 2014 CM TSS 4x4 offroad, not TRD and now I have the 2018 TRD Sport 4x4. now the sport is like 1" lower, I have friends I've pulled right up next to with the same truck and just the sr5 Tss 4x4 and mine would sit lower for sure. however with the suspension and the sway bars it handles turns a lot better, they are not quite squishy as the non sport shocks. the Springs are a little different however they do have different colors on them. I just put on my 6112's yesterday and they are so much better. I put them at the 1.3" height and the truck doesn't bounce near as much. If you're looking to upgrade I would get the 6112's you will have an even better ride for the road and it soaks up so much more on the bumps. I'm not looking for a lifted truck, I drive a lot but do have to go offroad for our ATV races a lot and for camping, the sport shocks did pretty good, however I think these other ones are for superior already!

just saying if you're looking to replace your shocks, I think the sports are like $178 a piece or so? get you the 6112's and enjoy a small lift in the front so you can run a bigger tire and more of a leveled looking truck. plus you will get a new spring as well. I have 34" tires on mine and I wish it looked like this from the factory
