Have an opportunity to pick up a complete SC kit that was on an 04 Sequoia. Trying to find out if it’s compatible with my 06 Tundra with VVTI without a huge hassle.

The hassle is pretty big. It is possible, it has been done, but not as easy as 04 and prior years.

From what I’ve read, anything with the 4.7 is not usually easy. It’s best to leave it alone and enjoy its longevity......
Yet if I had the opportunity, I’d definitely investigate that !

That’s what I figured. Truck has been flawless for 14 years. Don’t want to screw it up. Been pulling a 6000lb camper a lot lately in the mountains and she works hard going up a steep hill.

to fit, you'll at least need spacers made to raise the blower up high enough to fit over the secondary air injection pump

just sell it to me. i'll give it a good home. LOL

Just out of curiosity, how much is the ask on the SC?

You could regear your truck for better pulls in the hills.

Avidflyer, I came here too to see if I could find a definite answer for you. I would have listed it for sale on here too if it were not for the required 30 day wait period. Been reading on here for years just never made an account. Hopefully we can get some more info here.

I put 4.88s in my 94 with the 3.0 back in the day when I went to 33s. It has 5.29s on 37s now. I’m running 285s on my Tundra. What gears do people recommend for that size?

I’m on 285’s, as well. I’ll do 4.56 Ratio based on feedback if I ever regear. Some have done the 4.88, but seems a little much on the high speed RPMs.

The Toyota truck platform is new to me, so I'm not an authority on their needs but I believe I read somewhere on this site that 4.3's are the alleged "sweet spot". Regearing of the axle by someone qualified to do it would be more cost-effective over the SC for sure though, you just don't get the ego boost.

That's a lot of trailer for a first gen. Is that a toy hauler? Have you ever been through a CAT scale? I suspect your rear axle is over weight.

    I would regear first.

Although its not a perfect comparison, gears are way better for your money imo.

when on a bike, what makes it easier to get moving, pushing harder or shifting down a gear? Thats what new ring/pinions will do for your truck in all conditions. Even with a supercharger, your truck wants gears to operate like stock with those bigger tires

4.3's for 285's/33's matches OEM gearing fairly close but if towing or off the line power is wanted 4.56's would be better. Ask @Darkness.

Matching the OEM ratios doesn't take into account heavier tires/wheels (rotational mass) or load (trailer/additional weight).

^ Exactly. Every gear calculator will try to match you to stock rpm but solely based on tire diameter. You'll still be spinning an extra 15lbs of tire give or take.

Regear isn't necessary for 285s but if you're on the lookout for more grunt go 4.56 for sure. When I did I wished I did it sooner.

Yea, i searched around for a kit with a gt35, but no dice. I was a little disappointed with a procharger on a buddies s2k. As soon as it warmed up it quit making power. Like, we had to push it through the staging lanes with a bag of ice on the intake, and another bag of ice on the blower.

Was he running the water to air intercooler on his? Wonder how it behaves on a daily vs. at the drag strip.

Air-air front mount. And it behaved like a stock s2k for 100 miles, then he’d have to stop and let it cool off. Even got beat by a mostly stock tl 50-70, but he claimed it was the heatsoak.

i had pics on my myspace.

Their claim to fame is the Water to air intercooler. That's how they claim the 45-55% power gains. Otherwise it's 25% gains.
