So I've been looking for an economical way to spice up my wheels until the budget allows for wheels and tires. Gonna dip my wheels and change the emblem. I have a '21 TRD OR with the 20" Wheels. Others have modded the 18" TRD Center Caps to fit these wheels, but I thought of another way that might work and isn't $75.

The Emblems on these caps pop out very easily and are just a small piece that rests on the cap.

I'm going to 3D print a TRD logo that will "snap in" to replace the Toyota Logo. I could get crazy and make anything I wanted, but we'll start there. They will have nubs that fit into the holes on the cap, and I'll use some kind of semi permanent adhesive to keep them in place. Here's my three versions I'm contemplating:
    V1: Minimalist
    upload_2022-2-22_8-36-31.jpg
    V2: a little more support
    upload_2022-2-22_8-37-12.jpg
V3: Full circular support, fills the center cap well.
    upload_2022-2-22_8-35-43.jpg

I'll add all the .stl files once i'm done if anyone else is interested.

There's a slight curvature to the cap center, so going to remix to account for that. I like the size and fit so far with v2 the best.

Finally got these in after a month or 2 from 3dcarstickers.com. They're really nice. 83mm diameter. All 4 for $10.99 plus shipping.

I’ve been using “gray” colored dip on all my mods. So I did the wheel logos, vent rings, door handles, badge overlays, cupholder/shift console, shift knob, and even the running boards.

Super super easy mods! Total cost was probably under $30

That flat grey looks really nice, especially on the door handles!

Thanks. They were all super easy and fun to do!

We’ll see how long it holds up. Dipped the body side moldings on my previous car and it still looked new after 7 years. Traded it in so that’s as long I can comment/review on how well it withstood all the elements.

The inside stuff should last longer than me :)

If this doesnt work, thats my next solution. I just enjoy the process of creating something (semi) useful

Can you not heat it up with a heat gun and form it to fit?

I could, and I may try that but heat guns and PLA can be tricky.

Yeah I figured since it wasn't fitting you had nothing to lose to try it on your test piece.

    Here's V2.1 In ABS

    upload_2022-2-24_7-29-43.jpg

This is my first time using ABS, and I was surprised at how much more flexible it was than PLA. I'm thinking about removing some of the background support to clean it up.

Getting a durable option that replaces the emblem wasn’t working for me. I couldn’t replicate the precision and strength of the OEM emblems tabs. I Decided to refresh my idea. I came up with an overlay solution. Looks and fits great. This is a test print with some operator error so don’t judge the print:

Finally finished the emblem overlays. Eventually i'll retool them and make them a bit more precise. Next is dipppin the caps and wheels gloss black to go with em.

Yes!!! I have a ‘21 trail edition with the similar color wheels and the TRD wheel caps offered online are black, so they don’t match. These are perfect!
