Chunkier tires and some custom floor mats, working on a camping setup in the back!
    Howdy all,

I got these two heavy duty plastic drink pallets for free and want to use them as the base for a camping set up. Going to fill the margins on the sides with some flip up storage or something but wanted the masses opinions in case anyone else had some creative ideas!

It's gotta be supported all the way across because we have a double camping mattress

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong thread

Need a few more of them. Honestly though, don’t get too locked into using them for your truck camping build, you can likely build it out better not having to work around those. Not sure how much those even weigh.

They are about 35lbs each, mostly wanted to use them because they were free

You might be better off with some 2x10’s to get you over the wheel. This will allow you to use the bottom for storage and give you some flip up storage on the side

This is an old pic of mine, I have a double cab so my bed is deeper than an AC. I have my bed on the left. And I can fit the standard 10in tote under it (2 wide and 2 deep) and still have room for my shoes and stuff

I agree with knabores. They might limit you more than help. I definitely get seeing something like that for free and thinking it'll be a great start for a camping setup, but I also wonder if they're going to cause more trouble than help. IMO they aren't long enough, wide enough, or tall enough.

Ended up building it with the pallets anyways. Made it work with stuff I already had laying around. Pretty simple, but really just needed a flat place for the mattress. Here's the final product! 20250416_201153.jpg
