    hey guys ...
Last week a detailer dented the ribs in the roof of my crew max .. there are also small dents on the flat part between the ribs. It’s seems like that area is very soft now. Is there something on the other side like foam that could be crushed ?
I have an appointment with his body guy Tuesday to look at the damage .

2017 crewmax 4500 miles for reference

It’s a super reputable company and to me it looks like somebody kneeled on it or laid on it to hard to polish the roof

The place uses scaffolding and details many cars 10 times what my truck cost ... no idea what happened and the owner isn’t saying if he knows or not ..

My neighbor did the same thing to his a few months ago and it cost him $450 for PDR to remove two small dents on the ribs. They had to drop the headliner and work the dents out from below. After they finished you couldn't tell anything had ever been done to it. I'm always scared I'm going to accidentally dent mine and TRY to go to great lengths to prevent it. @GNTundra is right, it's a VERY sensitive area.

There is no less than 6-8 small dents not on the ribs and 4-5 larger (2”) on the ribs..

A little of this and a little of that.

They had to have been crawling around up there. That’s a lot of dents. And what, after the first dent, the bone head just kept denting it even though he saw the first one?

They are all in the first 20” so I’d say it went bad after he was already up there

I caved in my roof this past weekend reaching with my DA polisher. It popped back out, for the most part, as soon as I lifted my arms off of it except for a little bent sheet metal on one of the ribs. It's killing my OCD to have the dent up there. $450 to drop the liner and have PDR to smooth it out sounds nuts but I'm contemplating it. Ya'll be happy not to have my disease...

A knee would have been much worse. They probably just pushed to hard.

You would think that after the first one they would have stopped. o_O Very hard to find good help these days.

Sorry to hear about your dents on your roof. As a professional detailer I always think of the roof of a vehicle as a convertible soft top. I would never put my knees or even my elbows on there. I have a padded step ladder I padded so it won't damage the vehicle if it were ever to make contact with it. I use that for taller vehicles. If I have to polish the roof with DA I always use a 3 inch DA and I polish it by sections. The 3 inch DA is much lighter and smaller than the 6 inch DA.

This is mine caused by automatic gate accidentally closing on roof. Having a friend do the repairs in his spare time.Dent.jpg

    Too many to list
The detailer I used didn’t wax my roof right so I took it to him and he ended up detailing the whole truck again. This time he did everything right except he added four dents in the roof and denied he has anything to do with it.

Before I start cursing and swearing, I controlled my anger and quietly took my keys and left the lot.

This is why i will take my sweet ass time and wait until I'm not too lazy to detail my truck myself. I may do it next month or next year but in the meantime it's not messed up by some random detail wanna be who says he is the best.

Looks good from the picture but if they are telling me that I will see rippling I would not be happy.

At this point I’ve seen it in every light and if you don’t know it’s there you’ll never seen .. I’d call it 98% original but that still didn’t have me the least bit happy. After discussion, the shop and I agreed to a ceramic coating to offset the damage .. I’m ok with it..
