    Hello Gents,

Had a question about identifying the issue with hooking up my Tundra (1794 - 2020) to a rv camper.

Last week, the rv power cord got caught under the ball and left some of the wires exposed. Replaced the cord and hooked up the truck with the same exact power cord model in the rear bumper of my tundra, but my electrical tongue jack is NOT working all of a sudden. Lights work and turn signals did as well in the camper. The power jack will not power up. Cannot lift or raise the jack from the truck hook up with the removed and replaced power cord.

Here is where it gets interesting. My buddy hooked up the SAME trailer and power cord to their Dodge Ram and it worked (tongue jack went up and down) with the power cord I just plugged in. No problem with the power cord or tongue jack. Worked like it was brand new.

My buddy and I went to the 2020 tundra fuse box under the hood of my truck and everything looked good on the fuses that identified with tow or hitch looked in good condition. We even checked out the smaller fuse box under the wheel.

Took the truck Toyota. They said all the fuses looked good and the truck looked fine.

Pretty much in a bind here.

I've got nothing for you. I was always under the impression my electric tongue jack ran off the onboard trailer battery, not the truck or the inverter when connected. If it is running off the truck, it is likely off the center pin. Might want to e sure the new pigtail connection for that one pin is not over expanded to make contact?

My tongue jack operates off the onboard trailer battery. You don’t need to be connected to anything. Sounds like you have an issue with the jack/trailer battery connection. Check your trailer battery.

Thanks for the feedback. Very weird that my buddies truck lifted the tongue jack with no problem (when plugged in).

    Plugged mine in and nothing

Your tow vehicle charges your trailer battery when connected via tow harness. It's possible that somehow he able to power the tongue jack in that manner and you can't for whatever reason. Second, tongue jacks are usually not connected directly to the negative terminal of the trailer battery. They are usually connected through a connection through the frame of the trailer. Perhaps you lost that connection and your buddy's truck is making connection when he hooks up his truck to your trailer. Last, there is another black box usually around the tongue area that can house more fuses.

Guys, you wouldn’t believe it but the tongue jack works all of a sudden.

I even tried it when it was NOT hooked up to the truck and it worked.

There is that protective cover that shields the propane tanks. I lifted it and it stopped pressing on the wire. Went to check the tongue jack and boom it worked. About the only thing I did different.

    Thanks for the input.
