    Hello everyone!
Just got some issues on my 2000 tundra 4.7 4x4 transmission. Can someone confirm that a transmission from a 01-04 tundra will fit bolt on? Dealer tell me no, but.. here the only trans I can have from a 2000 is almost 5k$ freshly rebuilt..
    Thanks!

Try to find an 03 four speed. Should bolt up fine.

Is the 2002 and earlier ECU compatible with newer 1st gen transmissions w/o reprogramming it? Anyone done this before, or have links to where someone has done this and stated what modifications are needed, if any?

This is a topic that has been asked and answered quite a few times before with nothing but a lot of maybes and should work. Yet none have come back after questioning to state it worked fine or it failed miserably, and what they did to make or try to get the trans working as it should.

Big time waste of money and bummer to hear someone here purchase a 2003 and up 1st generation trans to replace their 2000 to 2002 trans and it doesn't work.

That works for me! Now, when the time comes, a 2003 or 04 reman is going in.

IMO avoid the reman units unless it is done by a very reputable person. A low mileage used 03-04 would be the best. OEM Toyota will accelerate, shift and drive better. Also keep in mind that the 00-02 transmission has a different catalog part # than the 03-04 but actually have the same part number on the actual unit, A340F I think. The 03-04 uses different fluid

I feel Toyota remans would be best and are inline or with less cost than a few shops selling nationwide online. The online shops selling remans do nothing but remanufacture transmissions, but to me their quality is iffy because of few customer's negative comments given.

Average cost of local transmission shops that do repairs only is roughly $1800, give or take a few hundred bucks. So, buying a reman, vs repair, is the better choice for a few bucks more, and ordering one from Toyota is a better option.
But then again, one hopes Toyota reman's are from Japan and not from low quality production countries like America and worse like Mexico, China, etc..

    Hello community!
Would appreciate confirmation of 2003-2004 auto transmission being direct bolt in swap. Have 2002 Tundra 4x4 and having a hard time finding confirmation of swap. Yes I see it in the forums! Just don’t want to be caught in another issue with wrong trans.
    Who can I talk too?
