Hello, I have a 2017 Tundra 4x4 and it has a ProComp 6" lift on it. Recently the truck has been making a super loud popping noise from the front when i would turn the wheels and when the truck is moving. Truck does not pop while stationary while wheels are moving.

    Things I checked and torqued:
    CV Axle nut
    Lower Cam bolts
Tie rods and Inner tie rods
    Upper Control Arms
    Lower Ball Joint

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Im getting headaches trying to figure out what is causing the popping noise.

    Aftermarket UCAs?

Check the bolt & nut that holds them on. Jack the tire up and move it from side to side.

Several accounts of people having this issue - incl yours truly.
Most people have fixed it by retorquing their skid plate - too tight causes popping noise. Others had to put rubber (washers or strips) between skid and frame.

None of that worked for me, I’m thinking it might be my coilovers.

Hopefully it’s your skid - easy fix.

I also did that and there is no play at all. Wheel does not move at all when truck is jacked up. I also had a buddy move the steering wheel to check the LCA bushings and they are solid. Do you think maybe CV axles are worn out?

Here is a link video of the loud noise. Starts at 0:04. Notice Im turning the wheels at full lock when it does it. It does it going forward or reversing but never in park and moving the wheels.

Does it seem to happen when weight is shifting while turning? Like on an incline or something? Or does shifting weight in a turn seem to make it louder?

Here is another video. Filmed it a minute ago. This video is better. Listen to it at full volume to hear all of the noise.

It happens every time I make a full turn no matter if i make a hard turn causing a lot of weight or making a turn slowly. Im suspecting the CV axles are toast since there is a noticeable creaking sound followed by a loud pop after just like how in the second vid I posted

I suspect as well. Ill remove both of them tomorrow and just back out of my driveway to see if the problem are the CVs. Wont do much harm since wheel bearing is pretty much married to the knuckle. Was going to remove them today but was torquing down every god damn bolt under there.

Good call I forgot the sway bar can do that too. I did disconnect mine at one point and it didn’t help. OP - give that a shot.

Keep wanting to pull mine off but haven't done it yet. I think my popping noise is comin from my UCAs. The long bolt keeps getting loose and at one point the nut fell off and was sitting on the frame

Oh crap! I guess I should check mine.

Have you checked your CVs like you suggested to OP? If that’s the issue are they difficult to change out?

From what I know there should be no "up & down" play in the part where it goes into the diff/axle housing. Side to side movement is ok if it's minimal.
