Does your Eval8 work for the Tundra as well?

We do not have a flush mount plug-and-play installation kit for the Elev8, like we do for the HEIGH10. However, the Elev8 can be installed universally in any vehicle. If you can find one. We discontinued the Elev8 for the new 10" HEIGH10 radio. The HEIGH10 has a similar brain and software, but all new updates are designed for the HEIGH10.

Hello Mike, I am new to the stinger product and I am looking forward to getting it installed in my 2020 Tundra in a few weeks. I do have a question about the radio. I seen a youtube video showing the stinger Hiegh10 reading the vehicles information like oil pressure - engine temperatures - tier pressure. Although it was on a 2020 Jeep. Is this information available for my 2020 Tundra? Is there a component that I would need to purchase to read this information? I very curious, because I tow a 30' Travel trailer and I like to monitor my transmission pan temp and my transmission torque converter temp.

    Hey Greg,
The new Tundra HEIGH10 kit retains all factory functions such as steering wheel controls, backup cameras, USB ports, etc. This kit is not integrated like the Jeep JL kit, so will not display engine temperatures and vehicle gauges. At this time, there is not an add-on for these features but our engineers are constantly working on new vehicle compatibility and integration.

Mike, do you have more pics from a Tundra? Different to what is on the website. Is this a floating head unit like the Daisata or does it look more factory like you’ve done with the Tacoma?

The Tundra HEIGH10 kit includes the dash plastics to form the radio into the dash, much like the Tacoma and Jeep kit. The dash kit fills that gap for a flush-mount install. The brain of the radio is mounted inside the dash like a traditional radio. So, this is not a floating screen or a tablet style. I included some pictures below, but I will get some better pictures from the side for you.

Awesome! Wish there were more pics but definitely see it in the mount. Appreciate the reply.

So, I finally had my Stinger Heigh10 installed in my 2020 Tundra. I do love the way it looks in the truck. It turned out better than I expected it to. It's only been in the truck for a short time, still working through the features of the radio. I did notice one thing I really don't like. I no longer have the directions/maps or the audio description on the dashboard display. That is a bummer. I still need to see if the vehicle maintenance is on the dashboard display. It was previously in the factory radio. I hope I didn't lose that also.

So, it looks like I only have the maintenance reset on the dashboard display. This really SUCKS. I can not choose the mileage as to when I want to change my oil interval. So the dash display doesn't do all that much anymore now that the factory radio is gone. You only maintain MPH - Distance to empty - MPG - trailer info and I think that's about it. There are 3 of the 5 screens that are empty. Not sure I really like this. The radio fits nice, but I'm not sure it outways the inconvenience of not having the extra goodies that Toyota offers via the radio/media info.

man, that’s a real bummer! Is the tire pressure gone too? I like monitoring that while I’m driving.

Something doesn't sound right. I don't think you should lose dash display screens after an aftermarket radio installation.

Loosing the Nav makes sense because it is dictated by the OEM head unit software and now he is running Stinger software for navigation.

The other screens not so much.

I still have tire pressure monitoring, which is a good thing seeing that I tow a camper often.

    Mike,

    Your site says:
    "Retain OEM Features:
Retains all the features you love in your Tundra; including full HD for cameras, steering wheel controls, USB ports, and more."

How close are your engineers to being able to communicate the information to the dash, and to maintain the other maintenance information that the OEM unit has? Would it be a software update, or would it require an additional hardware module?

Another thing I don't like about the stinger hiegh10 radio. The camera resolution doesn't seem to be as clear and crisp as the factory radio. The stinger radio is using the factory back up camera. I also added a front camera and a trailer camera and all 3 cameras have the same poor quality of resolution, it's just not as clear and crisp of a resolution as the factory radio.

I've heard the sound quality is not as good factory. Is this true? I really like the fact that it retains the factory Mic and most features.

The audio quality isn't too bad. I'm still trying to figure out the sweet spot in the sound quality, but so far it's not bad. Although I will add that nothing in my truck is stock anymore. I've installed all new speakers (Hertz 160 component speakers 6.5" in all the doors - 12" JBL Sub club ws1200 - and an infinity 7005A reference amp). So, the upgrade to the speakers is a big difference and more challenging when trying to tune the system to my liking. But all in all, it's a decent radio. I really like how it mounts in the dash, there are no gaps at all, and the large screen is great. I will say the screen shows your fingerprints, this bothers me, but I am OCD. It has many features in the sound sub-menu that you can tune.

Thanks for insight. as far as I know this is the only radio that works with factory phone Mic. One of the reasons I am leaning towards it. A little shocked it cost more than e apline Halo 11

I would not get too hung up on reusing the factory mic.
When I was looking I really wanted everything retained as well. It’s just too much of a pain.
There are tons of good spots to easily hide the aftermarket mic.
The Sony setup I went with retains everything but the mic. The Sony mic sounds way better than the factory one did. Unless you are really really looking for the mic one has no clue where it is.

I just got the Kenwood installed, and so far really impressed with it. Smaller screen but wireless CarPlay is really cool. Even the radio function lets you use the steering wheel controls to change the station. Backup camera has lines that turn with the wheels. Just little improvements all around.

Hey all! I'm happy to answer any questions.

The Stinger HEIGH10 has a built in 4-channel amplifier with 25w RMS/50w Peak power per channel. It also has a built in 15-band equalizer along with crossover and time correction adjustments. You should be getting a lot better sound if tuned correctly. There is an option in the settings menu to turn on/off an OEM amplifier. There are also 6 custom presets and 6 pre-adjusted EQ presets available on the radio.
Aftermarket camera resolution is limited by the standard RCA connection. The bigger the screen, the less crisp it may appear. Since factory cameras do not utilize RCAs, we are able to retain full HD on your OEM backup camera.

There is a built-in mic on the face of the HEIGH10 that can be activated in settings. It works quite well, so that gives you an additional option for a microphone versus an external mic.

Any features that are depend on the factory radio to function, could be lost. There is the option to add offline maps to the HEIGH10 via the iGo Navigation card. The Tundra HEIGH10 kit does connect to the vehicle to dim with your headlights, utilize factory USB ports, retain backup camera and steering wheel controls, and adjust volume with vehicle speed if desired.

Here is a great video covering the Tundra HEIGH10 plug-and-play kit:

Hi Mike - Where is the function to adjust the volume with vehicle speed? I thought I went through all of the radio settings and I did not see this setting. I do enjoy the radio, although I am finding it difficult tuning it in due to the many functions the radio has to tune in the sound quality. Is it possible to change the "stinger" home screen when you turn the radio on.

    Hey Greg,
I apologize, I did some digging and I was wrong about volume adjusting based on speed. There is also no way to change the Stinger logo at startup. However, you can add a custom background to the HEIGH10 menu screen.

    Thank you!
