Curious if anyone who has both of these or has extensively driven both a 3rd gen tundra and LC200 has any thoughts on comparing the two. My wife and I have each and love both and feel confident this will be our combo for the significant future. For our family needs they compliment each other perfectly. Will be glad to answer any questions if there are any. For reference my truck is a 2017 Limited. Hers is a 2016 LC200 with Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Cheers to Toyota’s!

Not the best of the LC. Will try to snag a better one tomorrow. 357A03CA-953B-478B-9335-C90C70ACA929.jpg188157C3-C243-4963-B27D-7BBF3E287D0B.jpg

Beautiful combo. I love Land Cruisers, too bad they cost 90 grand

    Lots of shenanigans.
After listening to all of Jack Carr's books, I'm starting to become a fan of Land Cruisers

Planning on getting the wife a LC 200 in the next couple years. Want to see what the next gen toyotas offer first though. Should be seeing new sequioa, 4runner etc in the next year or two

If anyone wasn’t already aware. Dealers have been notified that 2021 will be the last year of the Land Cruiser in the US. The 300 series is expected to live on in the Lexus LX though.

These things are built to last. Go used and save a bundle! That’s what we did. No regrets.

Great Combo! I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the 8-Speed in the LC. I have wondered why they didn't bring it over the to the Tundra a year or two after the LC or even the same time to gain a few MPG and compete more with the domestics at least on paper.

I have always LOVED the idea of the Land Cruiser. Glad to hear and read over the years that they are not an over-hyped enthusiast vehicle, but in actuality reliable history-makers.
I still have enough juice to say this will be one of my vehicles in life. If I make a move from the Tundra, I think this’ll be it.

The 1960 Porsche 356... that may be the elusive one.

In my opinion, the 8 speed is smooth. Like silky smooth. There are a significant number of LC owners that still prefer the 6 speed in the earlier model 200 and argue it feels smoother. I can’t answer that as I’ve only driven our 16’ and my neighbors 20’. When I’m heavy footed in my tundra I feel like it really hangs on to higher rpms before changing. I didn’t really notice this behavior until we got the LC and now I really do. I’ve never used one but I’d imagine a pedal commander would likely make this difference very small. Still never disappointed in the tundra though. Even after going immediately from one to the other. Interestingly, in regards to MPG, I average 14mpg around town in the Tundra. More like 11-12mpg in the LC. Makes me really appreciate the 38 gallon tank in my truck.

I definitely notice the Tundra hang on the upshift. My very limited educated guess is Toyota programmed the logic on the Tundra for less clutch pack slip for hauling and towing vs more of a luxury feel with the LC. I've never owned a 200, but have driven both the 8 and 6 speed, both were smooth without the hanging on to the gear like the Tundra. Interesting stuff.

Agreed. Very interesting. I’ve not yet hauled a trailer with the LC but will be curious how it handles shifting. It does not have a Tow Haul mode to adjust either. Although I believe shifting into manual makes some adjustments to how it shifts.

I was torn when shopping for my new ride. I looked at some 3 year old off lease Land Cruisers, and the 1794 and Pro Tundras. The used land cruiser would have cost about the same as my 1794 new, and at the end of the day, I wanted a pickup bed.

Completely understand that. Between construction and farm tasks I would struggle without a bed. Although I did heavily consider buying an older LC for myself and just pulling a trailer around. Think I’ve got a LC bug. But I do love my truck and it truthfully meets my needs to a tee.

I got rid of my LC to get into the newer Tundra it is just a practical matter for me.
LOVED the LC and every other one that I have had too but I need the bed space in a full size truck.

Gonna have to say I'm jealous. I'm looking to add a LC as well but not in the immediate future. We just added an FJC, so baby LC. Once those payments finish, the LC will be next on the list.

Congrats and good to hear others out there with this combo. I've been contemplating whether having both was in any way justified and I think you answered that question.

Maybe not the latest gens, but I was always happy to have the options of which I wanted to drive.

I know that nothing compares to a Land cruiser, it has been and always will be my favorite.

I’d love a land cruiser. But if the Sequoia has the next gen tundra powerplant by the time we need to replace my wife’s vehicle, I’ll probably take a pretty hard look at that.

Some thoughts on the interiors, as that's where I spend most of my time when utilizing either of these.

LC200: Fit and finish are bar none. It's hard to explain but everything just feels well thought out to feel premium (as it should). I'm not sure what they've done but I'm most reminded of this when I mess with the nobs/buttons/switches. If someone has insight to this I'd love to know what "it" is. Seat leather feels fantastic and the driver seat is very comfortable. The passenger seat... LACKS lumbar, in ALL land cruisers. This drives me crazy, although my perfect solution to that is I drive if I'm in it. The LX counterpart however does having matching driver/passenger functions. Back seat is spacious enough both width and leg room, although does not hold a candle to the CrewMax leg room. We have had many lunches on the tailgate of the LC with music conveniently playing out of the speakers of the trunk overhead door above our heads.

Tundra: You all know what these feel like. Not cheap. Roomy. Comfortable. I would argue for whatever reason my body prefers the firmer seats and lumbar position than what is offered in the LC. My Limited leather does not feel quite as nice but I'm sure the Platinum / 1794 step that up a notch. Tundra seats are quite a bit wider as well.

I've said it before and I'll probably say it again: I doubt I'll ever own two vehicles in the same "class" (e.g. full size body on frame 4x4s). I might only be saying that because the LC doesn't exist in Canada, though.

Thats a great trio you've got. I can relate to gas being problematic. Fortunately, I run the gas in my truck through my business to make me feel better. But money is money and it still stings.

I think second to the 200 series LC and LX the GX (100 series LC) is a fantastic platform. My mother drives a GX and my push was to buy that from her before we settled on the Land Cruiser. Ultimately we decided we wanted to make more regular use of the third row and this is much easier in the LC. We have a 5 year old, 3 year old and 10 month old. Although they would have fit side by side in the GX.

While I never considered owning a FJC I certainly like them. My cousin has had a green 2010 since new with like 70,000 miles on it that he decided he wants to sell. I tried to explain what a gem he had but he just no longer seers it that way. It is mint too. Hate to see him lose it.

I have salivated over the 80 series for a long time. My neighbor has caught my LC bug and I just helped him find an almost immaculate white '96. What are the details on yours. Year? Factory lockers?

I'm confused, you have both and can't form your own opinion? I've had both and I would say other than the outdated infotainment they don't compare well to each other at all.
