In spite of all the hype, the new Tundra sales have tanked 40% compared to 2021. It's the worst sales performance among full size pick-up trucks. Supply shortage have certainly contributed somewhat to this problem, but this has affected all manufacturers and Toyota has actually fared better then others. Looks like few people want the new Tundra.

Overpriced, unreliable (lot's of problems reported by early buyers) and lack of engine options.

Maybe, just maybe, Toyota will release a V8 option. Also, who cares.

Wouldn’t this have more to do with how late in the ‘22 model year it was they were finally released? If they weren’t selling, you’d find lots of them sitting on dealer lots, which just isn’t happening.

I’ve not seen a 22 in person. I figured it was a supply issue because I can’t think of a reason they wouldn’t be cranking them out.

Lol op 4 posts total? Trolls be trolls….my 2022 1794 is a great truck ya took six months get but was $13,000 less than a comparable Ford. And I can assure you from also owning a 2022 F350 which has now been back to the shop twice for a brake controller recall, and faulty front hub unreliable would be a mute point.

All Tundras in the Denver area are being presold. Mine is being built 6/17. Can’t wait to pick it up. Above stats seem to be more of a supply chain issue versus no one wanting to buy them.

The spreadsheet doesn't indicate the number of units available (I would think Frontier's numbers are freakishly high because there were only 6 units left at this time last year), which would help to support an indication of a trend.

"It's the worst sales performance among full size pick-up trucks."

If the Titan is considered a full-sized truck, then those Nissan numbers appear to be worse than the Tundra.

I've not been shopping for a 2022, but I read they have been selling very well (yes there are 1st release issues) with scarcity of product being the biggest hurdle to selling more products.

That spreadsheet is afu btw. I do see plenty of new Tundras around here now. Slow start but sales seem to be picking up and Yota is cranking them out faster now. Supply chain is better now. Not great by any means, but better.

The Frontier was stale and very few sold the last few months prior to the new gen release. Also you have to take into consideration the new gen changeover at Canton, Mississippi Nissan plant. Year over year sales dropped sharply but picked up a bit when the new 3.8L with 9 speed auto came out with the 2020 model year..Same 15 year old design otherwise.
Definitely a trend. Nissan 1st quarter new gen 22 Frontier sales >>>0ver 22,000! Damn good. Nissan projected 70K sold this year and sales are indicating that 70K goal will be met easily. More Taco's will be sold of course but doesn't make it a better truck because it's not. Not anymore for the time being. Titan's never sold well at all. Overpriced and fugly.

It’s availability. There just isn’t enough inventory to meet demand. Once inventory builds to a normal level and car shopping becomes a worthwhile event, ADM will go away and sales will increase.

My local dealer has 4-5 sitting on the lot…I guess they’re rethinking how much they jacked up the price.

Wait list at every reasonable Toyota dealership for trucks that aren't trying shove a giant mark up down people throats. Even those that have the giant markups don't have but maybe 1 on the lot.
Someone canceled on a 1794 when it hit the ground at my local dealer Friday. They posted it online and 5 minutes later it was sold.
    Yea, tundra is a flop

I have 118 deposits on 2022 Tundras. You can't sell what you don't have...but it seems you aren't smart enough to understand that.

True dat… But there is some truth to the underlying message. Look at me personally. I love Toyota and currently own 4 in the family. But honestly I’m in no hurry at all to get into a 3rd Gen Tundra. Also have friends in the same mindset. Mainly due to:
    • Elevated price
    • Uncharacteristic quality issues
    • Less than stellar appearance (personal opinion)
I think it will take 2 or 3 years for Toyota to get the numbers to be where they should. Perhaps when they work though all of this, I could entertain the idea of getting one.

Oh, completely agree. Toyota is selling every single one they are making. The problem is the number they are making and clearing QC holds.
