New 1794 or Platinum loaded can be had for low $60's
New Land Cruisers are sitting especially 1958's
New GX550 Overtrail and Overtrail + are bringing $10k over sticker???
I guess Lexus buyers aren't scared and LC buyers underwhelmed.
IMHO the Tundra wins has the interior and powertrain plus an actual truck bed when needed.
This is what Caddy and Lincoln and Hummer tried to do 20 years ago but didn't realize we want tough looking SUT's not pimped (Capstone).
So yeah no buyers remorse here, just watching the crazy GX550 Overtrail overpay games...

Does the GX come in the hybrid? If so I'd consider trading in my Tundra tomorrow.

Kinda depends, if you need a truck, those are not substitutes. I personally will never be without a pick up truck, they are just too useful. Either the 250 or 550 (if I could afford either, which is a little of reach currently) would be the wife’s vehicle.

If you using the Tundra exclusively for commuting or 4 wheeling, then the other 2 make more sense there.

I believe that the hybrid is the only way you can get it configured.

GX is non-hybrid gas only to differentiate from Sequoia and keep the "how's the hybrid battery" crybabies away in 5 years? or does the Lexus team just know the non-hybrid is better for 95% of buyers?

I’ve never heard of less power/torque being better. I’d love one with a NA V8.

I agree with this. If you need a truck, you can't really compare the other two. My wife really wants a GX, but it would be a replacement for our Highlander.

    Many on the way.
The Land Cruiser now exists in name only for North America, unless you a buy an LX600. The LC250 has 4-Runner/Tacoma level driveline, smaller everything… good stuff, just not real Land Cruiser level. The GX550 at least receives most of the good HD drivetrain parts.

Replying to add that, I was incorrect, no hybrid available. @Jettster you were correct. That full time 4WD would be sweet though……..

I don’t have anything to add to this thread.

Read a lot of crybaby shit about the LC250 not being a “real” Land Cruiser. OK, Toyota was selling about 2500 LC200’s a year in the US because they were outrageously overpriced at $90K. I guess all the crybabies who didn’t buy one because they were too poor can keep crying that they still can’t buy one because they’re still too poor and the LC300 isn’t sold here aside from the Lexus LX600.

People who could afford the old LC200 overwhelmingly voted with their wallets and bought LX570’s and they’re now buying LX600’s and will have the LX700 to buy as well. Toyota read the writing on the wall and ditched the luxo-barge Land Cruiser model in North America. I can’t blame them. American auto buyers who spend 6 figures on a car or truck want tasteless bling and bullshit because we’re tasteless garish morons too often. The concept of tasteful stealthy displays of wealth are lost on the status symbol buying douchebag buyers who buy 6 figure vehicles.

Instead Toyota brought us the slightly smaller more utilitarian LC250 “Prado” which I’m perfectly happy with because I would have bought a Prado years ago if Toyota offered it in North America, now they do and I own one. Land Cruiser now comes in at a more reasonable price point that the LC150 offered everywhere else. I would venture a guess Toyota has sold more of these LC250’s in 6 months than they did in the last 3 model years of the LC200 in North America.

It’s not perfect, but no vehicle is. Many of the deficiencies will be corrected through the aftermarket.

At least the important hardware is there: full time 4X4, selectable transfer case for high and low range, TORSEN center differential, locking rear axle, front stabilizer bar disconnect, and as I recently discovered the transfer case will run in low range without being locked. So you can make tight turns with no binding, bucking, or crabbing.

Toyota appears to have left plenty of power on the table with the T24A-FTS I’m guessing another 50-60HP won’t be too tough to pick up with tuning and that will put power up in the 380-390HP range. Torque is more than adequate already, in the low and midrange it already shits all over the 3UR-FE in my Tundra.

The build quality and materials are vastly nicer than the new Tundra and Sequoia, at least in the LC trim. The 1958 is pointless and stupid in my opinion and will probably not last past the 2025 model year once the 4Runner overlaps in price.

The intent here was to point out the value in our Tundra's as an SUT for the $, not to bash the LC. But the market has spoken and the non-hybrid V6 tt is the current consumer choice...I just watched a video where a local car dealer paid $10k over just to get an Overtrail + and they are scarce and at retail + on 3rd party sites.
GX does have smaller turbos for 349hp but equals our torque at 479 indicating they are still limiting torque.
I do love the look of the new GX the old one looked like ass

Land Cruiser trim and First Edition trim Land Cruisers were seeing dealer markups as well, and inventory on the ground in many areas is still super tight. The 1958 trim is an albatross though, they do seem to sit around and I can see why having driven one and now owning an LC trim with Premium package. For the $58-$60K asking price the 1958 should have the larger screen, sway bar disconnect, and some soft touch surfaces.

The turbos are different eh? I have been wondering how they set that up to be lower HP.

I just looked up the turbo part numbers and can confirm they’re different.

Actually Toyota's hybrid batteries are pretty durable. It's the older Hondas that had that problem. No idea how the new ones are. I put hundreds of thousands of miles on second and third gen Prius's (Prii?) and never had a problem.
