Good afternoon everyone. I created this thread out of curiosity and fun. I am just wondering if the Tundra or the Sequoia performs better in terms of speed? Let's say both vehicles race in a drag strip. I know they are pretty much the same truck, but I read that the gearing and suspesion between the two are difference. Does this make one vehicle quicker than the other?

Tundra is a little lighter, but geared more towards torque while sequoia will likely be more toward speed. Itll be close.

Hekk even watching them against some chevy or ford, they go pretty close against each other.

The Sequoia gets my bet in a drag race with full-time 4wd and the quicker 2nd gen front bodywork. :D

In the real world, I’d bet that they’d both get to the gas station at about the same time.;)

Haha. I actually laughed when I read your comment. It is so true. I just remind myself that it is all about smiles per gallon. You may be right about the more aerodynamic grill. The Sequoia only has a large lower bumper compared to the big front end of the Tundra. Tundra front end in many ways looks better than the Sequoia IMO haha. I also noticed the Sequoia has a bit higher top end.

Is the sequoia rear end the same as the tundra? That would make a difference I’m sure.

The Sequoia has IRS. Never expected that would make a difference. Is the IRS an advantage for the Sequoia?

The new gen sequoia does not have IRS in the rear anymore. I think the new gen sequoia capstone can do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. Faster than the old one and faster than tundra.I think the 2.5 gen sequoia is wu let as well. Do you think the bbs pro wheels have lighter rotational mass that could help acceleration?

Hands down Tundra. Lighter, faster, gets better MPG, tows more, more payload.

How long are you going fast for? Sequoia is gonna have to stop first with that measly 26 gallon tank ;)

I live very near a major raceway in north Florida. On certain nights, anyone can put their vehicle on the track. It's fun as HELL. Any Sequoia owner who wants to settle this question on a legit drag strip, I'm in! :D

I own both and cannot really tell a difference between each in acceleration. Both are the same fastest color off course (Superwhite). Guess my wife and I need to drag race this weekend. I *think* the Sequoia is a bit faster.

With both equipped with the 5.7, the Tundra is a 1/2 second or so faster 0-60mph.

Well there you go. Guess I don't have to risk wrecking both our trucks in the drag race.

Here’s how a race would go with my vehicles. I’ve floored and topped out every one of them on multiple occasions.

    1) 2011 Tundra

    .
    2) 2023 Tundra
    3) 2023 Sequoia
    4) 2017 Tundra
    5) 2012 Sequoia

This is like asking which 200-year-old giant tortoise would win in a race.

Reviving this old thread. Has anyone actually dragged these two giants and figured which is faster? Lol.

Looks like you and a friend are going to have to "test drive" each one and take them to a drag strip!

the early tundras haul ass! they definitely did something to later ones. not just throttle response. if you floor it theres a noticable difference. my 07 would smoke 37s even before i regeared.
