Wasn't sure where to post this, but since the 3rd gens have the two-tone door handles I figured I would start here.

Like many on here, in my quest to delete all chrome from the truck, I'm now concentrating on the door handles.

2020 Limited Silver Sky Metallic, so my swap option is limited to black.
I'm also considering vinyl wrapping the chrome portion in body color for the paint matched look.
I've seen both options so I know what i'm getting with either.

My son looked at it and suggested I do the vinyl wrap on the chrome portion, but do black vinyl instead of color matched. Never considered that, but since its already two-toned SSM and chrome it doesn't seem all that strange to just go two-toned SSM and black.

Wanted to get some opinions or see if anyone has done this already and maybe solicit some photos. Also, if anyone is handy with photoshop, maybe you could do a quick pic of a handle with the black center section in place of the chrome. I tried a quick mock up with some electrical tape but it didn't really work all that well.

Its not photoshop, just a quick mock up, but this is essentially what it would look like.

    Your thoughts?

I am considering the same thing on my 2021 truck. I want to black the handles out as well and leave the two tone look. Have you finished it? Were you able to remove the chrome to apply the vinyl or did you do it still on the handle? I was thinking I could remove the chrome to wrap it and get it wrapped deep on the back side, but wasn't sure if it was held in with clips or what? Let me know how you did yours.

    Thanks

I never ended up doing this. I'm just going to swap them out to the flat black handles. Roman from Cool Springs has the kit, from the TRD Pro I believe, that will work on the newer trucks. As soon as they open back up for business that is.
As far as removing the chrome piece for wrapping, I think that's the smart way to do it. There was someone on here that removed theirs and it was just stuck on with double-sided tape, no clips from what I remember, just some plastic guides. With the right tape it should be doable.
Keep me posted if you end up taking this project on, would be interested in how it turned out.

I thought of buying new as well, but since mine have the smart touch I wanted to try and save a few hundred and wrap myself. I’ll keep you posted
