Just a question for you auto industry experts. Looking online and I don’t see Toyota mentioned as a company that will be impacted. Do they not have UAW employees at their factories? Curious how you think this will impact the auto industry as a whole and specifically Toyota if at all.

Remaining non union is a huge benefit to the non big 3. Everybody thinks quality control sunk the big three. Really huge sunk costs including over production capacity and near sighted labor union contracts made them addicted to chasing volume. Producing more cars than you can sell and losing money on everyone you sold rotted the entire enterprise. Even Nissan under Gosen and VW ignored history and chased volume over profits. It never ends well

Depends on how long the strike lasts and hamstrung the market is for autos from the 'big three" manufactures. The longer the strike, the more I would expect other manufacturers to benefit.

When a company has significant labor costs (including benefits and pensions), they're only viable option is volume. They could reduce volume and lose money on each vehicle, or jack up the prices significantly. This is a bad time for the UAW to go for the jugular. Really interested to see how this shakes out and then the long-term ramifications. You can look at the abandoned factories in the Midwest to get a rough idea of the long-term outcome.

These are the horrible aftershocks of record inflation. Our dollar don’t buy shit anymore! Workers naturally want to make more money. When Biden doubled down on the second stimulus package/printing a trillion more dollars. It screwed everybody for years to come. The economy was recovering at that time. It wasn’t needed. Now we all will be paying for years to come. The worst is yet to come! Next will be the layoffs.

Don’t forget too, we just drained the SPR. So wait until you see winter gas prices this year…

Glad I work for TMH. Toyota projects itself years into the future so layoffs are never a reality as far as I've heard or seen.
All this EV hype and now the uaw just woke up.... remember the XL pipeline and who didn't have your back???union bosses who made some nice donations and you lost your job.....
That why only the big 3 were invited to the you know what because Tesla and Toyota are not union controlled.

That would certainly be a very aggressive form of competition on Toyota's part.

UAW already makes 20-40% more than non union auto workers. Then there are the work rules. Now, let’s add 40% on top of that and I’d like to work a little less too.

That was actually the prime minister of Japan. Bush puked in his lap and passed out under the banquet table.

It made for a lot of good comedy. Not sure how it reflected on the quality of American cars though. LOL

The Big 3 and UAW probably deserve each other. Meanwhile, on line 2, Tesla reduced prices 20% and profits increased.
Tesla talks about how they are driving costs out and the Big 3 are dealing with legacy expenses and an entitled labor force. I'm not a Tesla fanboy but listening to the earnings calls and issues couldn't be more night and day.

Who's "we"? The idiots in charge did, all for political expediency. I'll stop there.....but hopefully we don't have war on our hands, we are in dire shape from a stored-energy standpoint.

Toyota material handling side, they'll just acquire the company and have full control yet the name still stays. Examples are Cascade and Raymond. I'm sure there's hundreds more so they never have to worry about not have control of parts and such. As the uaw is doing will never happen with Toyota or Tesla as elon has followed Toyotas ways as in making there own parts and batteries.

Not allowed to refill unless crude is at a certain price correct? So right now the only way to do that is drill drill drill and knock the price down.

The UAW continues to do their best to screw customers and shareholders. 30 day stock performance- Toyota $165-$195. Nice run. Ford. $12 to $12.93 with a low single digits multiple. Non-Union Toyota is a winner from the strike.

UAW clamping down harder. Ford told dealers if parts haven't shipped there will be no more forthcoming.
Buy Toyota, Tesla, BMW, Honda, Benz and anything but the big 3. Do you want the UAW putting together your truck after this acrimony? I don't.
