With the lack of storage in the Tundra's this seems like the perfect solution. Doesn't take much room and can have one on either side. Anyone tried one of these?

I have two in my Tundra and love them. I like the fact that when I bought the pair they came with matched keys.

My friend had one of these and without a tonneau cover the AZ sun had warped it. I asked him to open it for me and everything inside that was metal had rusted because it wasnt waterproof after the warping. Imo, wouldnt get one without a tonneau cover, but not everyone has to deal with AZ's intense sun.

Definitely a tonneau cover is a must IMO. Wouldn't want to have it rained on or covered in snow.

Stupid question. But people who have this. Why is this better than a standard porkchop tool box?

I think this technically is a pork chop tool box, but the main difference between this and most others is the material. Plastic vs steel. Maybe there is something else im missing but that's what I can tell through a quick search of pork chop style boxes

Okay. I looked it up. Looks like differences are material and price. Mine is holding up well but it's been shaded by an RTT. Probably now that I've removed the RTT and don't have a tonneau cover, the black plastic will fade and maybe warp. Makes sense it's called an "under cover", to recommend it be installed underneath sun protection.

Toolbox that goes over the wheel well in the bed. Shaped like a pork chop.

How much weight can the undercover unit hold?

Its just the companies name, "Undercover", not a suggestion to keep it undercover. Would be a good running joke though with how they warp:rofl: I have a Undercover tonneau and like it, but im not sold on these style boxes personally

I love the idea of the swing case and Id really like to get one but it covers the rear tie down hook(s)s that I use often for transporting dirt bike(s) and gear. :(

Just got a 2017 TRD4x crew max. I noticed on Amazon it says it fits the 6'5" bed. I emailed Undercover and they said same ones (part# SC400D and SC400P) will work with the crew max 5'5" bed. Anyone here have one on the crew max 5'5" bed? Any fit issues?

I'm assuming the swing out arm and mounting bracket are steel?? I will have a shell on my truck, but after reading the posts about warping, if/when it occurs, I'm considering removing the plastic boxes, mounting large ammo cans to the brackets and fabricate them to fit over the wheel well (I weld and fabricate as a weekend hobby).

With regard to the comment about the rear tie down hooks, I'm considering moving the rear ones to the floor of the bed near tailgate. Wondering if anyone has seen anyone else try this and if additional steel plate had to be used underneath the bed for structural strength to the bed sheet metal?

Thanks...I've also ordered the cubby box that goes underneath the rear seat and molle seat covers with pouches for the back of the seat. Interior storage in these trucks kinda sucks after coming from a built Land Cruiser with a drawer system!!

One of the first mods I did. Helped that I grabbed them off Craigslist for $75 each but would recommend at full price.

I looked at these but, when installed, the width between them is well less than 48". I wish this wasn't so because I really liked them.

Fishman, I'm assuming the issue with less than 48" of space between them when closed/installed is that you can't lay a full sheet of ply or drywall flat on the bed anymore?

^^ Yes but, they lift out of the bracket very easily. If you are always hauling wood, it would deffinitely be an issue. If you only occasionally haul wood, a minor inconvenience.

I really like mine, I have 1 on the drivers side. My only issue is that my truck is usually full of surfboards, and when I want to access the swing case for stuff, I have to move the cargo around so that the case can swing out.

I had 2 of these in my 14DC. Kept them when I traded for my 19CM. I've not put them in yet but plan to. My only gripe with them is the same as Fishman57. I have my own cabinet shop and about once a month I have to get materials. So out they have to come. Anyway they should fit in a CM no problem. It's the front of the bed that is shortened in a CM. Also you lose the rear hooks but I flipped them over since I use them.

I'm starting to measure out in my mind how much storage i'd like to have in back. I typically carry camping stuff and tools (recovery gear and tools to repair my truck). I'm wondering if building a drawer system would hold more versus having two of these. I tend to carry a lot of stuff on a regular basis.
