    Hi all,

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I want my tundra to have the same look as my old tacoma. Attached are pictures of both.

I’m thinking I need to have some paint work done to my Tundra making it more white with black accents.

I just got the tires and leveling kit yesterday. I’m a little underwhelmed. I was told it would be higher in the front. It’s looking like I’m going to need a lift.

Please let me know your thoughts and recommendations.

    Thanks!

I am a sucker for the details. I'd color-match that grill and get rid of the chrome trim around the windows and rear bumper if you have it. You'd be surprised how much that breaks up a truck's look. LED/ projector headlights will also give it a more aggressive look.

I'm curious why you think you "need" a lift? Do you do any off-roading that requires higher ground clearance and/or more suspension travel?

Or, is it just a "looks" thing, like 95% of the lifted trucks I see on the road?

If you want it to look like a Tacoma why didn’t you buy a Tacoma?

More for looks. Nothing wrong with that. I do go a good amount of off roading. The last trail I went on in Sedona, I would have been much better off with a higher lift that would have prevented some scraping.

Fair enough. I've never considered a pickup a very capable off road rig, lifted or not. I have an old Jeep for my off-roading.

I did the lift and big tires thing once on a pickup. It ruined the mileage, handling, increased wear and tear on brakes, ball joints, and steering components. It didn't make the truck any more off-road capable, and it didn't get me laid more often. Never again.

Honestly, I think you need to go to a smaller rim size (maybe 18”) to get the look you want. Having owned a ton of tacos I feel like my truck now is just a giant version of what I previously owned.

Hmm maybe I am wrong in it helping for off roading. I mainly like to camp and I have friends with 4runners that like to do off roading. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like approval from others but it's mainly I just love the look so much better than without a lift and offroad tires.

I'd ditch the chrome mustache with color match and do the chin too.
BTW I think the white truck with black accents is sharp,I shaved off the chrome emblems and replaced with mat black.
Welcome to the boards and congrats with the new Rig.

Thanks bro! I like that. So ditch the chrome on the front for white, as well as the black chin under the grill for white. I assume finding a shop that will paint it would be best? and chrome delete all around with matt black?

Hopefully others will chime in on this,I forget the name of the company but there's one who makes color matched wraps.
They are cover overlays that go over it,also by your pictures, I can't really tell and I'm guessing here,if your fog bezel is black they also make that color-matched to.
If you go the route and have a local shop paint it make sure you get your trucks color paint code.

There are a lot of great ideas here on this site along with a wealth of knowledge and you'll pick up along the way.

Post up pics when you start your transformation.

If you wanted a Tacoma, but needed the power….. why didn’t you just buy Tacoma and LS swap it?

You should be able to peel the black off on either side of the windshield, as well as the black strip next to it on the door, to get the continuous white your Tacoma has. It is just wrap type overlay material and it is painted underneath.
