Upgrading stock trd pro suspension

    2015 black tundra trd pro dc
    I have a stock 2015 trd pro... time to upgrade stock bilstein suspension. My question is should I look at the new fox suspension that comes on newer trd pros or do something else. Mostly my truck gets me and Dirtbike to and from the trails and wifey and I camp in remote areas. Don’t really do any rock crawling.. only moderate off-roading. Let me know suggestions..

    First question is what is your budget? I think new TRD Pro Fox is around $2500-$3000. You can get good aftermarket stuff for that price.

    You can probably sell yours for a little too, depending on what you want to get and how many miles.

    Honestly I’d like to keep it under 4grand. Liked the stock ride so don’t want anything too stiff on pavement

    I think I’d go Pro Fox then if I was in your situation. Keep it stock and it’s more than capable.

    If this was ME, then I would go with the newer TRD FOX suspension, for sure. Install those puppies myself and be done with it, Boom. Don't think you would regret that decision at all.

    New guy here. Forgive me if I’m incorrect (or in the wrong thread altogether) but could you throw this TRD Fox setup on a stock ‘18 TRD 4x4? Would these shocks be part of a good option for upgrading my entire suspension within a decent midlevel-ish price range. I’m hoping to go with a 2-3in body lift to fit some 35 KO2s. Not hardcore rock crawling but intend to go off-road whenever possible. If there are other threads you recommend that might help please don’t hesitate to share. Thanks

    To answer your question...yes. This TRD PRO suspension provides about a 2” lift to the front of your truck to level it.

    Yes you can but there are cheaper options if you just want to lift. It would be a good setup though if you are trying to keep it somewhat stock.

    Perhaps a not-so-smart question....If I were to go with the TRD suspension, would it affect the TSS setting/calibration as it is two inches taller?

    A lot of people level their trucks and have no issue with the TSS. I read somewhere that there is a calibration for the Pros that some dealers will do though. Mine is lifted about 2.5” in the front and 1.5” in the rear and I haven’t had any issues with TSS.

    Possibly, some members have and some members like myself have not. And unfortunately some Toyota dealers will give you a very hard time if a calibration is needed after a lift is installed. If you notice on the PRO’s the sensor is lower on the grill.

    Good to know. I am looking to swap out the grill to the 2017 TRD grill mainly because it's already painted. Then I want to raise it two inches up front. Perhaps I will be one of the (lucky?) ones that can get away with it without going to the dealer.

    I'm in the same boat, I have a 2015 PRO with 115k miles. I figure I'm coming due on a suspension replacement. I've been extremely happy with the bilstein setup, so I'll probably stick with the TRD PRO "tuned" stuff. Who's the best person to talk to about picking up the new FOX parts?

    Interestingly they appear to be available on Amazon, but I bet that price can be beat.

    I used CB +2 shackles and have airbags. The ride quality doesn’t bother me, but I’ve always driven a truck and am used to it. Wife doesn’t complain so it can’t be too bad. There are other shackles out there too from other mfg for the tundra.

    Anyone have any first hand experience swapping out the Bilsteins for the Fox's? Is it a driveway job, or should we track down a shop? ALSO, what other part numbers are needed, are there bolts/bushings/etc etc that are needed in addition to the parts included in the suspension kits from the dealer?

    Its no different than swapping any other suspension. Some do it in the driveway and some don’t. Depends on tools and skill level. Best way to decide if you want to try it is to watch a video I think. Swapping the rear is easy. You shouldn’t need any other bushings and bolts unless your bolts are rusted on there and you just want to replace them.

    Same. You can go up to about 3” before you need new uca.

    You have a TRD Pro and want to upgrade the stock Bilstein TRD Pro suspension? Why? My understanding it the TRD Pro suspension is already pretty top notch stuff without going to super expensive Kings, Icon, etc.....

    Sounds like he's in the same boat as I am. 2015 trucks, suspension has to wear out eventually right?

    I have 145k on mine, and really need to figure out what to put on when these are done. The thought of putting something of less quality than the OEM Bilstein's hurts a little. But putting $5k worth of suspension on a 7-8yr old truck seems doesn't make a lot of sense to me either.

    What did you end up doing? Is reusing the TRD Pro Bilstein coil an option and just replacing the shock? I still have time, but want to be prepared for replacement once the time comes.

    I will be replacing my TRD Pro Bilstein’s with Fox suspension. Keeping it OEM the way to go. You know it will all bolt up correctly. My bilstein still feel great at 75K. I bought the truck new.
