I'm looking to upgrade from my 04 Tacoma, to a Tundra. I've tracked down a couple of possibilities, and I'm curious to hear what you guys have to say about the differences.

    I'm looking at a 2013 platinum crewmax or a 2014 1794 crewmax.

same colour, same mileage (65,000), and they both seem to have all the fixings. I know the 2014 is the start of the latest generation, but did they change anything significant between the two years? I'm mostly looking for non-cosmetic changes. If it's just looks, that makes my decision a lot easier.

2015 is when the 38 gallon gas tank became an option.

I can’t think of anything meaningful between 13 and 14.

only thing I think is the rear seat on the crewmax. The way they fold between gen 2 and gen 3, and appearance + interior goodies.

The 38 gallon tank would definitely be an upgrade. Maybe I need to take another look

That's what I mean, maybe I should see if I can find a 2015 with the larger tank.

That also might start a slippery slope that ends up with me in a brand new tundra, so maybe not.

2014 1794 will have ventilated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic sensors, and blind spot sensors. I don't think 2013's have cross traffic or blind spot sensors.

I greatly prefer the updated dash and front fascia of the 2014+ over the 2013.

I think the only things that I like more in the 2013 are the reclining rear seats and the throttle response. I believe Toyota tempered the throttle response on the 2014+ Tundras, but you can always buy a Pedal Commander or put it in Tow/Haul mode. There's nothing you can do about the seats. 2013 and prior Tundra rear seats are awesome.

The 2014 is a considerably better looking truck. Yeah, I said it. Also, baseball glove leather is where it’s at.

The cooling function of those seats is useless however.

Should be able to get 0% financing on a new one.
I like the 2014 over the 2013, but I can't stand that orange 1794 leather (even as a Texan).

Look for a newer model with the bigger gas tank.
I wish my 2014 had a bigger tank than 26gal.
Maybe another platinum, or even the upgraded Limited.
Some of the Limiteds have sunroofs and BSM.

You can swap a 38 gal. tank into either 13 or 14 for roughly $1,500 or less. Some of the cool little storage thingys were deleted in the 14+, like the credit card stash in the front doors

I like the exterior of the 2014 more than the 2013. Not sure how much I care about the back seats since I'm not planning on spending much time back there. I know the crewmax has enough space for a dog and a car seat so that's what matters.

I'll have to compare the dash in person but it seems like most people prefer the newer dash design.

Gas tank swap sounds like a fun project.

I mean, you just bought the thing so whatever YOUR favorite things are I guess.

I like the lively brown leather. Everyone buys black leather limiting choice to boring black or gray.
