Have replaced the power outlet fuse on my tundra 5 times in 2 years, also have replaced the USB Aux port as I was told mine was bad causing the fuse to blow. Didn’t help. Anyone have any luck figuring out why this keeps happening? All I use them for is a phone so it’s not like I’m overloading or using to excess. Only part of my tundra I am not having amazing reliability with

Have you tried different charging cables?

I only charge my phone, and it has done it for my last three phones. I never actually notice exactly when it does pop. Just get somewhere thinking my phone will be charged and it isn’t. I have used multiple cords as well, original charging cords, hard wired for one phone only and the crappy dual plug ones. Nothing seems to change.

It effects all three charging ports at the same time, same fuse apparently for all three, and I only use one at a time and I have switched up which one I use a few times and still same result

There is probably a short somewhere. You mentioned “hard wired” maybe take that out, process of elimination.

Sorry will clarify, I meant the phone chargers you can buy that don’t have a USB cord to plug in. It has one wire, specific to your phone, and typically has a higher voltage than the USB chargers and is called a speed charger. Just one of the many chargers types and voltage I have tried

Normally I would think I had a short, but I have read way too many posts from others with the same issue. Maybe I will use a larger fuse this time and see if that works.

Interesting... I just read this discussion. I have been charging my Samsung and have yet to have a problem. My wife tried to charge her Iphone and it blew the fuse. Did you find a solution?

Actually I did find a fix. Toyota reluctantly told me to switch out the 15 amp fuse with a 20 amp fuse and it’s been almost a month or more working perfectly. I also stopped using any aftermarket chargers as I found they were all garbage, albeit cheap... so I can’t say for certain the higher fuse worked, but that was my solution.

Mine goes in and out and it's very weak. It's not like a blown fuse, which is meant to completely cut the power. I've never seen a partially blown fuse, in 35 years of working on things with fuses. If partially blown, i think the added resistance should force a complete blow.

If a 15 amp fuse isn't enough to charge a phone, something seems wrong. Im not a fan of replacing fuses without finding out why the first one blew. Maybe it's a matter of power surges when a phone charger is connected. As far as I understand, the concept of wireless chargers and wireless charging devices is based on induction coils. Inductive coils can make huge power surges and bounce back current, without protections built into the electronics. This would explain why they say to only use the original or high dollar chargers.

Would a slow blow fuse be better? They are better to survive momentary surges. I'm planning to try it...

Since I replaced the aux/usb port with factory Toyota part and gone to 20 amp fuse mine has been perfect. I have even started charging iPad, iPhone, and portable battery pack at the same time and it’s worked perfectly. aux/usb port was a bit pricey for what it is but that uses same fuse as the ac outlets. Go figure. It was likely the culprit all along but it’s working and I always say, don’t fix what’s not broken.

I can try this but the problem is that all of my ports in the front and back seat went on the blink at once. It seems like it's something more systemic. The same chargers and cables that worked fine before are no longer working.

I just cleaned the grounding wire connections where the wiring harness attaches to the body. There was considerable corrosion for a 2 yr old truck. I plan to get new 15A fuses tomorrow to replace the ones I pulled tonight. I'll see if the clean ground wire and new fuses helps.

Yeah that’s how mine was. All chargers went out at the same time. Front, back, middle console. I replaced the fuse a few times but read either here or another thread that the culprit was the aux/usb port in the dash. Once I replaced it I haven’t had another problem.

I have a Radar detector, rechargeable flash light, garmin all threaded to one cigarette lighter style plug. The one just to the right and closest to the steering wheel, have yet to have a problem. its a three way wired plug.

I’m having similar but not identical issues. The usb/aux port is what I use to both charge and play audio to my head unit (using only usb no aux).

It’s intermittent. Sometimes it’s great but most of the time it will come on (start charging) and I see “USB” change to iPod. Then it goes out within a second or two.

Unplugging the phone, restarting the head unit will sometimes work when I replug and I’m good to go.

As soon as I turn off the truck though...here we go again.

    Has anyone solved this?!

Has this every been fixed? My 19 is having the issue where only one up radio works and all others in console and 2 in back seat don’t work.

So where might the fuse be located?
