Guys I took a chance and ordered a dual USB C port from a newer prius and it works perfectly on our Tundras. Edit: At least on my 2020. I'm not sure if the plug is different on trucks older than 2019.

Prius manual states 3 amps at 5v so about 43% faster than our 2.1amps. It's a good thing but I didn't upgrade just because of the speed. I didn't like the og flip up covers. These are lighted without a cover so it's much easier to plug a cable on the road. Also all our cables at home are now usb c to usb c so need to worry about buying separate cables for the truck.

The part number is 85532-48080. I paid $50 on ebay. Fred Anderson and Serra have it for $95, probably good idea to get it during their 25% sales.

I just installed it in less than 5 minutes.

Any pics/tips on removing the old ones. This is a very nice mod!

$70 new and shipped vs 60-68 used on Ebay right now.

My pry tool was too thick. I used a metal ruler with painters tape(to prevent scratches) to open up this seam. Then I inserted my pry to slowly undo the clips. The entire thing comes out.

Then remove the plug from the port.

Finally, put some pressure on the usb module from the back pushing it out, press the two top clips, then the bottom two clips. I was able to press them with my index finger.

With pretty much everything USB-C in the household, this would just make things easier, no longer need to bring an extra USB-A to C cable, just grab whatever I have on the table, which 90% is USB-C, the other 10% is the Mac maglock cable, which I can't use....lol

    *welp.....
I just realized before I pull the trigger that I have a USB-A Moto carplay plugged into the USB-A, due to the original carplay was spotty at best....
    Decisions.....decisions.....

I have an iphone12 so will still use the aux usb-a when I need to charge/do carplay. Could you just use that charger, even if much slower?

So on my '21, the left has two USB-A, and one USB-A on the passenger side. According to the manual, only the left-most USB-A (closest to driver) would work for Android Auto, and also doubles as a charger.
If I switch that out, I could try and run it with just the original Android Auto and see what happens....
I do remember getting the Motorola MA1 because the signal was all weird and jacked up....
Or worst case, USB-A to C converter..... Why am I making my life so much harder than it already is....

Are you daying your ports are reversed? 2+1 instead of 1+2? I don't think it will work. I wonder why the difference between a 2020 and 2021.

This is per the Prius manual

    "USB Type-C charging ports
The USB Type-C charging ports are used to supply 3 A of electricity at 5 V to external devices. The USB Type-C charging ports are for charging only. They are not designed for data transfer or other purposes."

My Android adapter is closest to the driver but it's single outlet.

Oh baby!!! I was just PN'ing with @RainMan_PNW about the one he'd found that was USB-A and C. Dual USB-C is exactly what I wanted too!

Thanks for taking the chance, I'll be ordering this ASAP

Err.... hold on. My truck is in the dealership right now so I can't see it.
But what you showed here looks correct. the Most right hand is the 12V which I have a bullet for with two USB-A ports out....
If 1+2 then yea, that will work fine.

I bought my truck this past February. Flew to Phoenix from Los Angeles. Did the paper work and went to plug my phone so it can be charged and the cable I brought with me was usb c to usb c. Went to a gas station and they had the same cable. I had to go to Walmart to find the usb a cable. So right away I knew this needed some fixin'! Then a couple weeks back I started browsing usb ports from Toyota and saw the prius one was a match and dual usb C.

Good thread. Thanks for the info. I just bought the last one from TSM on eBay. Sorry about that (2 of y'all had it in your cart and should have pulled the trigger XD )

Got mine and put it right in. My 2.5 year old sat next to me, maybe 10 minutes, probably 5. It is tight to get into the first section, but once you get something between it you can pry them pretty easily, the big strong holders are on each side just as a fyi.

Once I got it opened, I unplugged everything but the lighter one so I could get nice access. When you are pushing the old on out, it goes towards the back of the truck, pushing, not pulling through towards the engine. Took me a minute even with the tips to get that in my head. Clips on bottom and top, can push down on one at a time and wiggle it right out. New one snaps into place, and put it all back together.

TINY TINY TINY. I was shocked how small it was. And a Gods-Damned mouse shit on my old one, so I am taking it as a sign.

Good install write up. Same experience. Minus the 2.5 year old and mouse shart.

Edit: I have blacked out interior trim covers/replacements from AJT, High Flying, llukang, and other Amazon sellers of such on my 2021 DC, they do cover a not insignificant portion of the of the piece we are removing, this made me uncomfortable, but eventually I just pushed the side trim piece away and gave a good tug after getting my pry tools situated and it came out without showing any signs of having bent the molded clip holders.

Give it a shot! I'd bet it works. I still have an iphone 12 and need a regular usb, so I don't have the need. I mainly did the other two for my wifes phone and my kindle. I figure anything else I buy in the next 5 years or so will need usb-c too.

can you elaborate a little. I am not doubting, just trying to understand why the other ports work just fine, but this one wouldn't. I am pretty dumb with electrical.

Hmm I'm wondering if this will work the non data port slots for 2019's and below, as we dont have the double slots like the OP (and other 2020, 2021s).

I wanna someone else (@RainMan_PNW maybe?) tried this and it was a no-go due to completely different wiring harness or something.

The reason why I bought the Prius charging module was because I looked at photos of the plug shape on our original one, then I went thru photos of other Toyota vehicle models until I found a match. There was many modules that matched the shape and size but not the plug.

This one appears to look the similar, but the plug does not match. I have android auto and am happy with my Motorola wireless adapter so I didn't look further. During my initial search I did notice that the Prius data port for 2023-2025 is also USB A.

Okay that makes sense. They happened to overlap on this one, but it doesn't on the data slot. Thank you for explaining that.

Check the build link in my signature.
    Correct
Data port wiring and connectors are substantially different.

While the USB-C charging ports work without any additional modification, the USB-C with data connectivity would require an adapter to work.

    USB-C charging is simply a +12V and a GROUND.

USB-C with data requires a few (3) additional pins that the headunit needs to see in order to know something is connected.
