I'm sure it's around here somewhere, and I'm going to feel dumb when it's pointed out, but I just can't seem to find it on my own...

I'd love a decoder to interpret each character of my VIN number. Ford is really good about this. Toyota...not so much, from what I can see, anyway unless I'm missing something, which I hope I am.

My VIN is 5TFNA5DB2PX(last six I'm keeping a secret)

So far I got 5=USA, T=Toyota, and F=Truck. NA5DB2PX I can't find. And I'm assuming the last six digits are the order it rolled off of the assembly line.

    Little help?

    Thank you.

I'm almost there. Just have to figure out what P means for the model year (I assume 2023, but love the warm fuzzy I get from the VIN confirmation), and the 9th digit, which in my case is 2. Dunno what that means yet. It says here up top "Check digit", but I dunno what that means.

"P" is probably for model year '23.

"The 9th digit is reserved for the check digit. The check digit, found in position 9 of the VIN and compulsory for vehicles in North America, is used to validate a VIN. This is helpful for computers to immediately tell if there is an error or issue with the VIN."

Yes the "P" is for 2023, AutoZone has all the years listed on their VIN decoder help page. After 1981 the year digit is standardized for all manufacturers.

letter "O" is not used for model year as it can be confused with zero "0"

    zero, "i", "o", "q", "u", "z" are not used for year codes.

zero and letter "o" can be confused

letter "i" since it can be confused with number 1

"q" maybe can be confused with "g"

u (i have no idea why, maybe off chance of letter "o" or zero misprint)

letter "z" cause it can look like number 2
