Looking to buy new 2024 tundra. Is the order date on the vin info the same as the build date?

I presume the order date was before the build date. More interesting to me is what is the difference between the engine build date and the truck build date? Is there information on engine builds each day, assuming there was a lag between 22-23 engine builds and 24 engine builds...

Because Toyota uses JITM (Just In Time Manufacturing), you can assume that your engine was built between 7-14 days before the production date of your vehicle.

Zero lag between the end of production for one model year to the start of production for the next model year.

TMMAL works in 2, 10-hr shifts.

Thanks. I'm thinking there would be a lag for retooling, and that would be evident in supply (most interesting in hybrid vs. non-hybrid) stock or build dates.

There are no tooling differences needed for 2022 through 2025 model year. The differences between years comes down to a difference in parts, as such, those are already taken care of by the supplier(s). (ie. matte button surround on the steering wheel controls, different trim ring on the start button, etc)

I'm thinking specifically for the engine. To maintain a production line there must be additional stages for smoothing the burrs etc.

Engine parts are cleaned by machine, each one goes in a big cabinet with high pressure air and a water based cleaning solution. Any deburring or quality checks after that might be the only changes. But they build an engine a minute on every line.

How many lines are there, and which lines are involved in the recall?

TMMAL produces more than just the V35A-FTS (Type '21). There are two lines for the V35A-FTS (Type '21). A third was added to produce engine assemblies for the 24TA07 Engine Recall.

Thanks for the inputs. What I am specifically interested in is the replacement of the bearing, reportedly starting with April 2024 build dates to address the engine recall issue. The order date on the vin info for this vehicle is March 2024 and whether this indicates that the bearing replacement was not done for this vehicle. I do not have the actual build date from the drivers door plate in hand.

The bearing(s) being updated did not result in no failures. There were failures of May 2024 builds.

Yes. Sequoia HV, Tundra, & Tundra HV have all had failures in the 2024 model year.

Does anyone have a ballpark estimate of the % of 3.4L I-Force engines that have failed?

the 1st pic is when i put in our allocation reserve request on our 2022 tundra plat back in may-2022

2nd pic is the 2nd confirmation after we had to change it from a 2022 to 2023 tundra plat since our original request didnt get allocated within the 2022 production cycle.

from the time of original allocation reserve request 5-may-2022 to drive off the lot date of 22-feb-2023, it was roughly 10 months.
