    Be warned…
I installed door edge guard on my front 2 doors yesterday. I put it on the entire door edge, simply for Aesthetics. When I opened up the rear passenger door, the plastic mounding on the Tundra caught on the door edge guard and snapped off a 1” piece. There is absolutely no clearance there to install the guard. Granted, the edge guard is not needed in that spot, but it would look a lot better if you could have it in one piece.
Now I am stuck with a repair bill on a brand new truck
The factory is already having to replace both front door trim pieces due to the “tape” not holding them in place. It was delivered that way…

    How do those guards attach?

I stopped buying the slip on ones with glue, skipped over the slip on ones that also hug the door edge with clips and now only do the ones with a little ledge that adheres to the outside of the door edge with 3m tape. I think they call them “L profile.”

They go on easier and have been problem free on every vehicle I’ve used them. Slip on ones with glue were good for at most a couple hot summers before the glue broke down and they came off. And the 3m tape ones may work easier with door trim since they only adhere to the outside without wrapping all the way around.

Also it’s usually better to break them up at sharp door contours, or areas where it’s hard to get them to stick or interface with other trim for whatever reason.

The F150 I am in now has bulky door weather strips and sharp angles near the door bottom so I broke them up into pieces leaving a tiny gap at the sharpest angle. Tried a continuous piece. The part on the sharpest angle jammed against the door trim would always want to come loose. Just easier to leave a barely noticeable gap and call it a day. Sometimes aesthetics has to defer to practicality.
