Experts... I have a hybrid and I would like to have a cat-back installed which required a cut right before the muffler. Will what void my warranty?

Only the part of the exhaust that is modified. If anything ever comes of it remember the dealership or Toyota must prove that whatever is modified caused an issue. They cannot just say u modified something and now nothing is warrantied.

Response: Road debris damaged my muffler and it would not pass state safety standards. I replaced with an aftermarket system that meets state/federal emissions standards and was substantially less than using the OEM Toyota part.

Isn't that kind of a misrepresentation of Magnusson-Moss?

It's my understanding that you'd be on the hook for funding the exhaustive 3rd party testing that shows it wasn't your modification that caused the damage.

    https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidan...ht-repair-cases-do-your-warranties-comply-law

Not necessarily, the right to repair act has already made is law that people can repair their own products and by doing just that it cannot void the warranty of the product. By installing a 3rd party exhaust that cannot be the sole reason to say the vehicle has no powertrain warranty anymore, But say that 3rd party exhaust breaks internally and clogs the exhaust leading to burnt valves then the warranty would be void since the part that failed was not installed by the manufactory and they cannot be held to warranty parts that were damaged as a result of the failed 3rd party exhaust.

Shouldn’t have to cut the exhaust pipes to do a cat back install. The kits made for Tundras are bolt on, including Gen3.

    Burden would be on manufacturer.

I like the Carven's sound but they don't have a direct bolt on for hybrid.

A friend of mine called Toyota about this cat back and they said it shouldn't be a problem.
