I heard or read somewhere that if I don't do my regular maintenance through Toyota that the engine warranty will be voided if something happens to the engine. Is this true?

Not true and there were lawsuits about it, you just need to keep records of all your own service meaning receipts and date stamps and mileage

If you deviate from the service plans, like those publicly posting they are going 80k per spark plugs instead of 40k, yota may deny warranty

If a Toyota dealership tries to sell you that lie, tell them to look up the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.

You don't need to do the maintenance at the dealer, but you must be able to prove that maintenance was done accordingly to the manufacturer's recommendation. Your word, or even a casual oil purchase receipt from Walmart won't suffice. If you have invoices for a shop and the job description matches the recommended maintenance from the warranty booklet, you're OK. If you do your own maintenance, you must keep receipts of the parts and consumable that you bought and keep a written record with dates and mileage, and logically the dates must match (if you write that you did oil change in March, but the receipts for oil and filter are from June, that's an obvious red flag).

Man, I do my own oil changes and really never keep receipts. With this bearing issue that has me worried now!

You have a ‘20, so you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. I really wish I would have kept my’18….

The bearing issues are on the TTV6 of the 3rd gen. You're 5.7 V8 isn't prone to the issue.
