That's crazy. I just went out to my truck and checked; no foam. But it's a 2006 and that one is a much earlier year (tricolor tail lights).

That's weird af. I can speak for my 2000 AC as I just ran a hose clear up the boxed frame rails to the very front cross member to oil the inside if it... and no foam or obstructions period. :notsure:
Must have been a PO brainstorm?

That's not normal. Someone put that in there. That area is prone to rot too. I've pumped a lot of fluid film in there over the years.

Mine had foam on both sides. I didn't notice until I had the driver side repaired (autorust.com). I removed it from both sides.

Dang, weird, i would assume that would have been to keep critters out of the hollow frame tube and was a cheaper option than welding in a plate to box the frame.
Mine doesnt have it, 2005 DC.

Here’s the big hint why it’s in there, although someone stuffed it waaay too deep in the video, @wauto.

I've got a 2005 DC with replacement frame done by previous owner in 2014 and it's got foam on both sides. I found it when spraying Fluid Film this fall. I left it in but maybe I should take it out??

I would take it out. Water is only going to get trapped in there and I would know.

So some trucks had this and some didn't. Toyota actually put these in some trucks?

It’s part of the treatment they did to spray the rusty frames instead of replacing them.

That’s why I don’t have it, no recall. I was thinking (in a weird stupid way) it might have been part of the PDI process and some dealers didn’t remove them.

Interesting. I think my frame was sprayed but I'd have to double check online.

Mine was treated, but no foam, maybe taken out at some point. Pics when I vacuumed them out before oiling them front to back.

Yeah, if it was done correctly, it’s just jammed 1/2 way into the channel and easy to pop out. I’d guess most people took them out or they eventually fell out.

Guys at the stealership that day were, like, "Nah boss, how about we take the money for the foam bits and use that on pizza lunch for the shop today?!"

This now makes me wonder if my tundra only got the treatment vs replacement. I double checked my online Toyota owners service history and here is the entry that I thought confirmed the seller claim of frame replacement.
    Thoughts?

2005 DCs were part of the limited service campaign? I thought that was only 2000-2003? Anything greater than that was part of a lawsuit settlement.

I looked closer at mine, I wonder if "F" is frame, and CRC is the treatment?

I found a Toyota PDF that explains some details about this Limited Service Campaign (LSC) D0D. My vehicle lived in upstate NY close to the NYC metro area so my Tundra was in the phase 3 portion of the campaign

Huh. So the frame treatment without the free frame if you qualify? I’m not seeing anything about frame replacement in there.

Yep. That’s for when they spray the Noxodul 700 cavity wax inside the frame rails.

This portion discusses a replacement frame a few times if the perforation is bad enough.
